cool video from Fordyce from the 80s.

This was on the fordyce picture thread on pirate.

I cant believe WH1 used to look like this. I mean what, thats 8-10 feet is has gotten dug out in 25 years ? Wow

also just some badassery seeing those rigs go through. At that time, they were close to new!

Here's one for you Jon. I was looking for some pic's of Big Sluice to show a co-worker how it looks, and this is what I found. The picture is actually down the page a little and has a white JK with "NITTO" on the side. It was taken in 2013. Holy crap has it changed in just 2 years. It looks like you could drive a stock Cherokee down that. And I mean a 2015 Cherokee :gee:

Rob,

there was a point a few years ago when I think they really "paved" big sluice, it was a lot worse before. I think they did cut out a tree or two maybe when they did that. since I remember getting hung up bad on one years ago that I did not see this time. In a couple years it has started to get a little more difficult from when they paved it.

Yeah that tree fell naturally during winter 3 or 4 years ago. Then they helicoptered in smaller rocks and blew up the larger boulders in the box. That was in late September of 2012. It's a bummer it was blown up. The box was always a good time.

I remember when the "Tree" in little sluice fell and they helicoptered all the rock in- I think you are talking about little sluice, but Rob was referring to big sluice in his post and I was posting a video of Fordyce in the 80s.

just to get it all straight, we are all talking about something totally different.

I thought there used to be an extra tree or two in big sluice that wasn't there since the last time. maybe I am crazy.

I looked at a video of WH1 from last year, it's almost hard to tell you're looking at the same area as the video you posted. It really has been chewed down, eroded away or whatever has happened. The difference is pretty dramatic.

yeah its pretty crazy.

My dad and his buddies used to run slick rock in the early 80s and 70s before they ever put that gravel access road to the south end, and they said what we now call the stair steps, used to be just a steep , DIRT, climb, like no real rocks at , at least how they remember it.

toward 70% of the way through that video they go up WH3. holy shit. I don't think those vehicles would be able to get to the bottom of WH3 now let alone attempt it. it's literally a 15ft hole in the ground now where it used to be a mild trail. pillow line was still buried

yeah WH3 was not really recognizable huh, that was nuts. it looked so mild.

Oh my bad I misread that. You are correct, I was talking about little sluice.
