WF'11 Countdown

I know the thread about WF ideas is closed but I have a question so I'll put it here...

Have the powers-in-charge given any thought about returning to the policy that if you're not a NAXJA member then you need to have an invite from a NAXJA member to attend WF?

I understand wanting to make the event bigger and bigger every year but I think having to be invited would help weed out the idiot drama queens and keep the problem kiddies from returning again. It's hard enough pulling off an event like this without having to wipe noses and change diapers, too.

Just ramblin' thoughts when I should be working. :compwork:

I can understand that line of thinking Steve but, to answer your question.........No,(to my knowledge) it's not really been discussed.
I don't' think it'd be in the best interest of the MWC to do so. However, that's just my opinion and nothing more. I'll just leave it at that.:)

I'll toss my 2 cents in on that as well.

Being that the purpose of WF is to grow the MWC, we really need to let in non members. We're a club first, internet chatroom second, and getting people to the events is what the club aspect is all about.
My first winterfest was long before the member/forum suppotrer thing, I was a nobody that no one knew. I showed up, Rev laughed at me for being late, and then they showed me how to wheel. Had I not gone to WF 06, I would have never joined Naxja.

It's not a problem to deal with the idiots, we just need to be better prepared. I really think that the staff was overwhelmed by how many people showed up.

SO I think the real resolution to the problem is more volunteers, and a better staging area plan.
I've already put myself on the volunteer list, and I'm pretty sure that Jennie can be a cute Jeep traffic girl so we can gte all of the trail runs setup with Jeeps that are capable and safe.

I hear bot Steve and Nate...both have good comments.

I cut my wheeling teeth at WF.
I was nervous, but being with experienced drivers put me at ease.
we need to keep this open to all drivers.
we have enought different trails run that day to fit everyones needs.

one thought about staging and registration.
We all don't have to leave right away after the President has spoken.
maybe each individual group should have an individual out of the XJ Q&A session (somewhere more quiet) before heading out onto the trail.
And, maybe later, have another, out of the XJ group Q&A session at the quarry or somewhere else down the trail.

I like this. An individual trail group session would be great.

Well, I guess what you guys are saying makes sense. It seems to be the vast majority that feel this. Got a bit of back channel regarding this and the feeling is keep it opened.

I tend to think small when it comes to crowds. Just my nature.

The Q and A suggestions are great ideas. It would be nice if the owner of the Badlands would open, say, an hour earlier for this event. That would give us a little more time to be organized.

Didn't mean to side track this thread since the MWC BOD already had an idea thread. But you know how us 'older guys' tend to wander in our thoughts. :speepin:

Idiots?

Maybe I am WAY outta the loop, but I did not hear of any idiots at WF....other then me that is.

WF is an open event, always will be if I have anything to say about it.

Id like to be a staff member at wf 11. What do i need to do to help. I had a great time this yr. I rode shot gun at WF 10 and brought the lil jeep up this yr. HAD a blast. I would just like to put my helping hand out there if its needed.

We start assembling a WF staff/committee later on in the year. Hit me or any of the other BOD members up a bit later and we will see what we need and where. Thanks!

Cheeseman-OUT!
