Saturday the 27th of September I am going to go back up with the family to West magnolia trail to finish what we wanted to do last Sunday.

http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=211

A little scenic driving, a little hiking to the mine and getting some fall color pics if any......... A little picnic, etc.

Anyone want to join let me know.

This won't be a big off-road adventure just a little relaxing as the trail is only a 3.

That sounds like fun! But put me down as a maybe, it's pretty short notice, but I'll see if I can't swing it to get that day off from work, won't know till tomorrow night. What kind off time line were you looking at?

I'll be sitting this one out. :(

One of my brothers is here from out of state. We're having a g2g that day. :) :guitar:

I probably won't see him again until somebody passes away...unless I'm the one that's gone. Then I won't see him, will I? :tear:

Take more pictures this time!

Okay maybe=Hugothegrunt :confused1

I was thinking heading up hwy72, nice scenic run. Leave Broomfield around 10am take 45 minutes + to get to the trail head. If you are in Longmont you can head down 287 and meet at the phillips 66 off of Midway and 287.

Just let me know if you are interested, PM etc.

Hypoid.....so negative.......you are too stubborn to die anytime soon ...................you have many years of tormenting others to do

Maybe, that is a drive and I just spent a bit on the Holy Cross run. Would love to go though.....well see???

I'm out:thumbdn:, Short staffed at work, can't get the day off:bawl:

I've been talking with the wife and we may take our youngin' out and join you. He didn't do well last time we tried to take him wheeling, but that was a couple of months back and we spent almost the entire time sitting still waiting for a jackass in our party to get his rig through obstacles he wasn't built up enough for.

I seem to recall you're kid is about a year old, am I remembering right?

Actually he is 10 3/4 months old, he'll be 11 months on the 8th. He doesn't do too bad and he will laugh and giggle when we bounce all over the place. He is just at the point he would rather be exploring the things he shouldn't....... if he is in the car seat too long he gets a little grumpy. This trail isn't too hard and there is plenty of moments to take a walk like to the old mine area that he will get to visit.

We were thinking of heading out of Broomfield around 10am up HWY 72 to 119 and to the trail head. Lunch time will hit and have a little picnic. If you followed the link you see the trail isn't very hard, but some great scenery and great for the family.

If you are interested just pm me, I will send you a PM with my phone number to call if you want to join, you are more than welcome to join and my wife and mother in law will be there :looney: ........she is cool though

It was so beautiful up there! The family was in love...........the trail has changed a lot though. I guess more private property has been closed off. Some of the trail I remember got deeper ruts but overall still an easy trail system. You can get turned around real easy though and we ended up not finding the Champion Mill Hiking trail right away, but we did take a nice hike with the family. Finally got to use my boys little Jeep..........carrier harness that is

Once we finally found the entrance to the hiking trail to the champion mill it started to rain and thunder/lightening so we didn't get to go. I would like to go back up just for that and then find Moon gulch. So be on the lookout of info on those two around the 11th of October.

Here are some cool pics and even a video!

Way cool, Skully! I'm sorry I couldn't get my family up and running early enough to meet up with ya. I ended up doing a late afternoon solo run of Red Cone with my son instead - would've much rather been out with someone else.

I wish you could have joined as well....... :yelclap:

...a side note this area usually has bears floating around everywhere........ Last time one had got into our trash set far away from the campsite. When I go in the hills anyway I always carry my bear/bad animal repellent, the worst ones are the two legged kind.

While we were hiking I had the thing strapped to my hip and I had a couple guys on bikes stop to ask me directions and kept staring at it, I smiled and warned them about the bears, they acted all freaked out saying they didn't know anything about bears in the neighborhood. At the beginning of the trail I caught some guys packing up their camping gear and one of them said they woke up to a bear in the back of his pickup.

And here I was scanning the treeline for antlers. LOL

:shhh: we have seem them too...........

They have weird licenses, one of the last times we were up there camping we had a guy come by our camp on a quad early in the morning and we invited him for some coffee. Talking with him a bit and he had bagged a buck the previous day and had laid the entrails down as bait for a bear....was going to track it....he had one of the few bear hunting licenses' at the time I guess. That is how I found out the area is known to have bears wondering through as he was telling us.

Just this time up there we saw a guy out bow hunting, I think they get their license earlier than standard hunting?

Bow and black powder seasons start before rifle season...I think. I have not hunted for decades. Such as it is, I'm lucky to get a line wet. LOL

I had a good time with my family. All 4 of us "boys" were there. I had someone snap a pic as I was leaving, but alas, it came out blurry.

Nice pics BTW.

I wish I would have been able to join you. Looks like a great secenic area. I wasted pretty much my whole weekend, and did nothing. I tried to get a hold of the guy with the 8.25 and he never called me back. Pisses me off. O well! Good looking family btw!

Might be going again on the 11th of October, and maybe something added on as well. I want to hike that trail to the Champion Mill....never got a chance to after we found it (read my review for reference)

So you can have another chance to join......................... :spin1:
