well..

As far as I'm concerned, those who don't stand for our pledge, or hold their hand over their heart during the Star Spangled Banner, can go ahead and find a country where disrespect of the flag and what it stands for doesn't matter. And yes, that includes that dumbass that finagled himself into running (i use the term loosely) this country.

Oh, and jeepnube, pass me a beer. This is about to get good.

I will stand and sing the Star Spangled Banner in my best voice, but when it comes down to being required to stand up every day at the exact same time, I refuse. That's something they do in communist countries like N. Korea and China and parts of Russia. I wouldn't mind it if they announced the pledge everyday, but it should be voluntary in high school. That's little kid shit. Even then, I still disagree on teaching little kids that they must be obedient. If it was voluntary, I would probably stand up along with everybody else and recite it. Because I love the United States of America, but when I am arrested and I ask on what charges; and I am told with insubordination to a teacher who then got a principle and I was insubordinate to him, so he then wrote me up and I refused to sign. Who then gets a peace officer to try and write me a citation but refuses stating that the charges are absurd. Then they step out and have a little chat, come back in and out I go. They took me to our lovely county judge to decide if I had the right to refuse to stand up. I explained myself, judge agreed, I was taken back to school and our administrator lost a bunch of respect from employees and authority alike. May I mention that he nor the ex-Marine government teacher no longer work at my school? That being said, once everybody else is givin the option to voluntarily recite the pledge, I will do it. Until then, I refuse. Garland ISD refuses to recognize that. Because I know that in Dallas ISD, they dont do that bullshit.

I am assuming this is because you are Mexican??? What has your great country of Mexico done for you lately?

And no, it has nothing to do with me being Mexican. It's because of the way things are done. If they would ask, I will do. If they demand, I will refuse. Easy as that.

And Mexico has done plenty of things for me. Like allowing me to have dual citizenship even though I was not born over there. But since both my parents are citizens, I inherited that from then; filling out proper paperwork ofcourse. So, when I get older, I will go down south and start a business. That way, when it's time; I can retire here in the United States of America, and in the United States of Mexico. Twice the money. :D Also, since I am a Mexican citizen as well as an American citizen, I no longer have to worry about renewing my passport when it expires, as a matter of fact, I dont need it to cross our local border. So i'm sure it's ok for me to say that they've done plenty. Not many American born Hispanics can say this.

I can see what you are saying.
But.....

You are "required" to have a drivers license too.. so are you saying you dont have one?

That is different. It is in the law books of every state. It is a law that one is required to have a DL. It is not a law that everybody in a school or everybody or anybody period is required to stand up at a certain time and recite the pledge.

And don't give me that. That is a completely different topic which is not a part of this one. I would be out there to ready to die for this country...but am not eligible. I had a surgery on my head about eight years ago. I am left with a dozen screws and a plate on my forehead, not to mention a scar from the top of one ear to the top of the other. They messed me up. I can no longer see out of my right eye due to retinal tearing and scarring. It scarred and now blocks out light therefore not allowing me to focus. I only have peripheral vision in my right eye. Also, idk what they did but I am ultra sensitive on the top left corner of my forehead. There is a screw loose in there or something. Hurts if you touch. Concluding this, I am therefore documented ineligible to serve in combat or in any other field operations.

Amen to that compa!

Do you AT LEAST stand when the pledge is said?

I do. Yes I do, now I do and I recite it softly to myself, just like everybody else. They recite it everyday at 9:12am. First period is over at 8:57 and they give us 7mins between classes and they wait 7mins for everybody to settle down in class and finally the PA comes on and states, "Please stand for the Pledge."

i would say im mexican but im not! im hispanic. just cuz im fluent in both languages doesnt mean im a mojado or anything =p =p

It does to gringos hahahaha :gee:

The reason I joined the military is for people to do be able to disrespect their country. That is what makes the USA such a great place. Granted I don't believe in disrespecting the flag or the country, but that is what makes our country different and in my opinion better than other countries.

im more fluent than most gringos (or bolillos, whichever you prefer), and i wouldn't consider myself a mojado. i would, however, consider Sparty a pitufina.

alex, i hope you realize this when you are older, but just because someone MAKES you do something, unless you have a DAMN good reason not to, other than just being young and rebellious, just do it man. life is too short to make a battle out of everything, especially if there's no good reason behind it. just a little piece of advice from someone who has been in your shoes before.

Twitch, I have something to saw to you. I have alot to tell you actually. But I am just too damn tired tonight, just got off work. It can wait, I'll tell you tomorrow when I get off of school. But dont worry, it's nothing bad, nothing to worry about. Just the truth in part and mostly what I think of you in regards to what I have you quoted.

i have nothing against you alex, and i hope and pray i haven't pissed you off. i just see a lot of you myself at your age in you. thats one of the reasons i razz you so much, because i understand where you are coming from. you're an extremely hard worker who hates school, but you know you need some sort of higher education to get where you want to be (i.e. cordon bleu, and congrats once again, btw) i think that you are an EXTREMELY confident young man and that you have a very successful, and very hard-working, life ahead of you. i just hope you turn out better at my age than i have, that's why i attempt to give you advice. if my advice is un-needed or un-wanted, PLEASE let me know and i'll stop immediately. I just think you're a good kid, with a hell of a lot of potential, if you would take a step back and stop being so cocky and rebellious. just my .02. still love ya kiddo.

i have a dr appt in the morning, and possibly a sales call in denton around 3-4. other than that i should be open most of the day. feel free to call or text bro.
