When installing a snorkel what else needs attention.
will the wires keep water away from plugs?
What steps are needed to waterproof the distributor/coil?
Any other concerns?
This is first time I've ever attempted this and I hate to install a snorkel only to stall when the ignition gets wet.
Thanks

You're going swimming?
How deep?

Starting at the bottom, the front axle might have a overflow tube coming out of it that comes out beside the t-case. Water quite often gets into the hubs when going for a dunk. It is recommended that you replace the fluids in the hubs afterwards.

For serious swimmers, I have seen where it is recommended that you replace your mechanical(belt driven) fan with an elelctrical one. You can then use a cut-out switch to turn it off when in the water - unless you want your fan to act as a propeller - gulp!
---
Look for a distributor that it already water proof - they can be found.
---
There are many holes in the firewall - seal them.
---
There are many holes in the floorboard (like the seat mounting bolts) - seal them.
---
Make sure your door seals are good.
---
Check the hole on the passenger's side - behind the kick pannel. Water can follow the antenna wire into the vehicle.
---
Check for holes in your vacuum tubes - it can suck in water very quickly.
---
I know there's more to do, but I'm drawing a blank right now.
I'm sure that others here have more suggestions.

Good Luck...
(My Golden Retriever would be jealous - he loves swimming)
