Wanted: rear dana 44, scout maybe??

looking for a rear dana 44 for my xj. seems like the scout conversion might work with some adapters. Id love to find an xj 44 but people seem to price them so high. I found a scout 44 locally but it has no brake hardware...DONGIT! so i guess i need
a) complete scout 44 with brake hardware
2) just someones old brake hardware and drums and so on
%) or some other good d44 that would work for the conversion.

I'd go for it if the price was right. You will have to relocate the leaf pearches and shock mounts on the axle. Won't bolt right in. Just get all new brake hardware, save you pains later.

I believe the Scout 44 is just a little narrower than the XJ's axles, so by going with some wheel adapters, it should bring the width close enough to specs.

Any rear D44 will work, but you will just have to make it fit.

Do a quick search and see what you come up with.
