Waggy D44 5x5.5 conversion info

You could take the passenger dropped vehicle, spin the inner c's 180* and get some reverse cut gears. That'll give you a highpinion and allow you to perfectly dial in your pinion and caster angles all at the same time. I really should have rotated the c's on my waggy axle, i've got the caster set perfectly at 5.5* but my pinion angle is way off. I'm not too worried about the pinion angle though as its a disconnect hub axle and the only time I used the 4wd is on the trail. I've got 3 spare u-joints in my jeep just in case.

Um, no. You can't flip a passenger drop axle and get driver drop, or rotate the knuckles to get the same effect, if that is what dutch was saying -- the oiling channels for the pinion bearing won't be there and POOF, big black cloud of smoke -- someone will likely chime in about the gears spinning backwards or something too, but I've never been quite bright enough to grasp that.

As to you knuckle swap questions, all post 1969 D44 outers will swap onto all D44 inners. So, you can get a Ford 5 on 5.5. patter on a cheby axle by using ford outer parts -- include the stub shaft though because you won't be able to get a c-clip on it otherwise, IIRC. search for "littlekeylimeCJ" or something like that on google and you will find a wealth of D44 swap information (I can't find my bookmark, or I would give you a link...)

Thanks, that is what I want to hear. LOL I've read some of Mr N's pages and missed that. There is a lot of info over there. :read:

One of my buds wants to SAS his Ranger. Last summer, he picked a HP-44 from a '70 Ford. It has drums...and kingpins.

A couple days ago he posted this link: http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/Knuckles-Inner-Cs-p-2-c-979.html

Holy crapp!!!!!!!!!! That's about what I pay for a whole car!!!

Anyone know of a good shop in the area that can mill and drill those flat tops?

That kingpin44 is the exception, from 65-69 F100s -- uses the same tiny kingpin as late -60's early 70s EB D30s-- crap.
