Come on people, who cares if you get credit for a photo! Get off your high horse so we can get this show on the road. Letterman and Bryan C have put a lot of work into this all year and you know it! That's just plain retarded! :smsoap:

its actually a really big issue. i'm far from a pro photographer but high quality photos are worth a great deal of cashola... some people do make a living off of taking pictures you know.... my new camera gear is going to cost almost what i paid for my first jeep.

I understand that. However; NAXJA is not a cash cow. If you want your photo in the calendar, all you have to do is give permission. If you are looking to further your carreer by participating in this calendar then I assume you are uttery clueless about NAXJA and what it is we are doing around here.

which is why i said, "use whatever pictures you want" when i was asked. some people are a bit more, shall i say, strict with usage of their photos.

as long as someone isnt passing my photos off as their own, or making a profit off them selling crap, i dont care much.

Yeah I know that, but these are photos of our members on a not for profit forum. If these were gonna be used for profit then I would understand. I too am buying a DSLR in the near future but its for personal use. Just sayin.........

I agree, if there is money to be made and you are a pro then I see no issue with asking for money.

The issue at hand is about photo credit. Dave and I are not making any money on this. NAXJA isn't making any money on this. We have no credits in the calendar whatsoever, for us or anyone else.

This is being done in support of NAXJA. If you support NAXJA and our efforts then I see no problem participating.

If you choose not to participate then so be it. Just don't be an ass about it. Say no, and be done with it. Arguing isn't going to help anyone in this situation.

On the other hand. If all people want is credit for their photo being used, what's the big deal? After seeing all the work Letterman has but into these in somewhat short order how hard could it possibly be to put their name in the lower corner.

Permissions and copyright issues can seem small but turn into a huge deal. Ask Chicago Jeff about that.

also true... a semi-transparent "photo by Joe "CherokeeXJ" Naxja" in the corner takes 2 seconds to add.

If the 10 other photographers don't have a problem with it, then why should we cater to one individual?

even the most basic creative commons license requires credit of the original author... jussayin.

This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation. This is the most accommodating of licenses offered. Recommended for maximum dissemination and use licensed materials.

I know it might seem like it was nothing but I have over 40 hours into that calendar so far. I have changed out photos for almost every month, and some as many as 5 times to get the right look. I still don't have all the photos needed.

Dose someone want to go and get all the names of the photographers for the 35 or more photos? (don't answer that!)

This will be a small print run of a club calendar, a way to support a good land use organization, not a way to get your name out for your prima donne photography career.

It's not even that good of a photo, why would you want your name on it anyway?

This photo will be pulled from the calendar, I was told we could use it but someone got bent because he wants his name in print.

We need a good photo of Opie ASAP, if anyone can help. I have a few shots but they are old or they don't have Opie in the rig.

Wow. Seems like a lot of stress for a fun calendar. All it's doing is ruining the perspective of the people on this forum of each other.
Just chill people. XJLI has the right mindset, it's not hurting you any.

Personally, I think you could actually sell more if you give photo credit. Who would buy one? People who are in the calendar (in one form or another) or know someone who is, right?

We have other photos. It is perfectly fine to not use that picture, as others are available for use. It is his pic, and his decision. Moving on....

Just when you are about to loose all faith in people . . . this all turned out for the best.

Matt Adair the professional off road writer & photographer from Off/Camber Media heard about what Bryan C. is trying to do here and sent in a bunch of photos for NAXJA to use of Opie. Thank you Matt!

Also Bill C. sent me a great resolution photo for January, thank you RCMan!

Down to one last month, Febuary . . . oh and all the photos of the chapter shoot out . . . and the back page . . .

I didn't mean to say you didn't have a lot of time into the photos. I think I worded it wrong. What I meant to say was that for all the time you put into them, adding someones name should be small potatoes.

I don't see this as an all or nothing deal. Just because one guy wants his name there doesn't mean you have to put it on all of them. Hell, make it so small that nobody but him notices, and then only with a jewelry loop.

Ahh got it, that makes sence, at first I thought, "hay, I did some work to make it look good."

You are right, it is not that big of a deal, I just had it with this one photographer demanding his name be put in or else . . . I think he just is not a big supporter of NAXJA or what we are doing here. So now I get to work with the photos of the Great Matt Adair.

Well it seems like some people think their pictures are worth gold. We are experiencing some delays related to photographs and having permission to use them. If permission to use the photographs isn't given, then they will not be used and the member may be dropped from the calendar.

No photo credits are being given to anyone. Please don't expect or demand credits for use of your pictures.

For the record, I am trying to get the cost as close to a break even point as possible. This is why there is a delay in the pre-sale.

Silly, I'm more than willing to let my pictures be used for the calendar without "credit", especially since I won the $500 cash prize for Rig of the Year.........:D

A big thanks to everyone who contributed to this calendar. Without you guys on the trail taking pics, we would have no calendar at all.

Again, a big thanks to Letterman for his efforts on this project. He has tried his very best to get every detail perfect, and it definitely shows.
