vehicle title question for tn guys

anybody in tn might be able to help, i have a vehicle i bought without a title and im needing one for a deal that may be working, how hard and whats the procedure for obtaining a vehicle title for a vehicle and do you have any pointers, i havent had to do this before

Take a bill of sale to the courthouse and apply for a title/lost title.

got a VIN right? just apply for one...

I had to do one for a vw that was given to me. I had to apply for a lost title and it took about four to five months to get it back. If you need any help, I work for the Knoxville Police Department. One good question is have you ever had it registered. Just take one of your old registrations to the county clerk and that should help get things rolling faster.

i have that.... i bought the rig as a parts vehicle initially but i want to title it now since it runs... if i take the vin to the clerk im afraid it may have outstanding leins i may be responsible for, at least those are the horror stories i hear

yessir... ive titled with the title and vin i have but that makes me nervous since i havent put the vin plate in it yet

huh? are you slur typing? so you have titled the truck with the VIN off the parts truck but havent swapped the plates over yet? is that what you said?

yes that is... i have to pull the windshield to swap plates the dash wont come out
