Remember seeing some members went to vegas not terribly long ago, couldn't find the thread.

Planning a trip to Vegas for new years eve, its my buddys 21st birthday and we joked about it when we were in high school, now we can actually afford it, just definately not the best way to spend our money.

If I order now, 2 rooms, airfare for 2 for the 30th through the 2nd costs in the ballpark of 1600 bucks, so 800 a person + whatever other expenses we have, so Im thinking in the range of 1500 bucks per person for the trip.

Never been to Vegas, could be terribly wrong.

Planning to stay at the Hardrock, planning to party our asses off.

Any advice? Any knowledge of concerts during that time or anything else.

Not 100% if we will go or not, can think of alot of better ways to spend the money, but new years in vegas sounds like it might be the best or worst night of our lives.

Tell you what, I was stationed there at Nellis. Best thing to do for free is ask hotel for free stuff. Even if you're not staying there, they will sometimes give you tickets or even chips to play with, free food all kinds of stuff. Take advantage of the free out there, just act homeless almost

They actually give out free stuff to those who ask? Thats awesome?

Trying to find anything going on then, but everything keeps coming up for last year.

Eve nightclub, entry + open bar for 125... Ive had higher bar tabs at local crapholes lol...

Just something from last year, but figure prices might be the same still

me and tyler went in may and booked 5 nights at the mirage and airfare for 580 a person... theres a resort fee that goes along with it like 10 bucks a day so be prepared for that too.... i took about a grand with me and bought nearly front row tickets to all our shows (carrot top and penn and teller) and bought a vip pass for all the clubs in the palms (this is a great idea.... regularly its 40 at the door and you have to wait in line, you can go in and out of all the clubs as you please for a night, and you can upgrade it to include all your drinks BTW the ghostbar club on the roof is THE BOMB!). Dont gamble a ton and eat smart, we ate breakfast at denny's on the strip and theres chain restaurants within walking distance of the hotel that will save you $$$, plus use the vacation guide you get in the hotel each restaurant has a $ sign cost rating..... icluding airfare and hotel and spending money i did vegas for almost a week with under 2 grand, granted i didn't eat filet mignon every night or take a limo every where but i had a blast. the mirage was an awesome hotel i highly recommend it. and tyler highly recommends their topless pool club too ;)

my advice on the hard rock is its an ok walk to the strip but bein right in the middle of it all is really convenient..... and the locals i partied with one night had nothing but bad things to say about rehab at the hard rock, said theres way better and less crowded pool parties to be at.....

just do your research beforehand and find the best options to fit your style and your budget, that way when you get their you'll spend more time doin cool stuff than sitting and deciding what to do

Yeah, new years rates are insane. I will probably play a bit of hold em, Ive heard there are a few places for cheap tournys, I will probably not be eating anything expensive either, booze will be the problem. I have every intention of abusing any and all open bars.

I heard the topless pools cost rediculous amounts of cash for dudes, plus its new years in vegas, Im thinking at the very least GGW will be on scene. Lol

Maybe its just because of the time of year, but I would think you could get a better deal as far as price goes. We booked our trip 6 months in advance and it was CHEAP. Just be smart and don't gamble too much and you will be fine with that much money. However, I would suggest having a reserve just in case.

As far as topless pool clubs... Bare at the Mirage is pretty awesome. However, from what I hear, the most popular time of year is like right now... not so much on winter time. So, I would just kinda keep an eye out and watch to see if a lot of girls are going in and out, because it would suck to pay to get in and there not really be anybody in there.

We posted s few pictures of some hot girls, so you had better do the same!

Here is the thread from our trip:

They allow camera's in strip clubs in vegas? If im gonna pay to see some titties, thats probably where Ill be going lol.

Need a fancy cell phone with a video camera.... that would be great.

It is like 5 months in advance, Ive been reading, it says vegas rates nearly double for new years, and the longer I wait the higher it will get. Really need to decide asap what we will do. doesnt tell me what events are going to happen though and my buddy tends to be unreliable with planning.

Anyone know how to go about asking for free things? Seems like you would need to be cryptic about it... Do some kind of name drop lol

Only see 1 picture of a chick period in your thread man! Come on now!

There were a lot of others... I guess the NAXJA gods didn't approve and deleted those posts, sorry bud.

Talked to my parents about this trip this morning, mom was not at all thrilled, dad laughed and said "Its like the wild west out there that time of year, XXXXing dangerous, why not go to new york city" either would be cool, NY definately cheaper I would think, but vegas.... Sounds so much better. If we go to NY, we have to bring the girls, wont be an option (18 and 19) they can't have any fun in vegas, so whats the point lol, but new york, can't imagine explaining "Well hun, this is a guys trip, you wouldn't have fun anyway" "THINK OF THE SHOPPING AND YADA YADA YADADA"

Also debating just throwing some mind blowing party locally, could throw a pretty epic XXXXing party for half the cost of the vegas trip, Im talking jager flowing, kegs tapped, the works.

Well, i HIGHLY reccomened Vegas. I've been 3 times and going back August 30-Sept 3. First time we stayed @ the Wynn, VERY VERY nice but WAY toooo nice for me. It was our honeymoon so we went HIGH CLASS! Even took a helicopter ride over the grand canyon..that was cool. I lost at EVERYTHING i played at the Wynn. 3 card poker, blackjack, craps, even video poker. Whatever it was the Wynn was not friendly to my gaming.

Stayed at New York - New York the 2nd time, decent place, worth the $$ i guess. Nothing special, it's on the far end of the strip (South end), had to walk a long way to "center Strip", lots of cool stuff center strip. I'm with Tyler, stay "center Strip" if at all possible....that's where it's at!!

3rd time stayed at the Mirage, i agree W/ Tyler.... AWSOME PLACE. Not glamours or whatever you want to call it but just a GREAT location and pretty darn nice.

When we go next month were staying cheap (in fact, a bit cheaper than i would prefer) at Imperial Palace (located center strip also). Going with a bunch of buddies for a PARTY TRIP so it'll will work fine!! Its across the street from Mirage.

If your wanting the Hard Rock atmosphere look into Planet Hollywood (better location but still VERY cool), super cool place. Go play blackjack in the "pleasure pit" WOW is all i can say!

Also, dont forget Downtown Vegas. The strip is the strip and downtown is old school vegas, Freemont Street, really cool movie/laser/LED shows nightly/hourly to cool music, they last about 15 minutes each hour. Also the beer is CHEAP. Dont miss the shrimp cocktail for .99 W/ a players card. Downtown vegas is about a $10 cab ribe from the strip...trust me it's worth it.

What we did to cut prices on beer, get a backpack cooler (mines from REI.com) carry it around all day/night, no one ever said anything to us! Walked right into the casinos, just be smart with it and dont "dig beers out" in front of the wrong person. Get beer at either the drug store by the ventian or the package store past the Wynn/Encore.

Check this map and stay around the center Mirage, Ceasers Palace, Planet Hollywood etc

I 2nd the idea of going to downtown Vegas. More character and cheaper drinks than buying at the bars on the strip. I just got back a few months ago and it was cheap. Stayed at the Luxor. It was full of young people and the pool was packed with hotties. It's cheap and the younger crowd fills the place. Not the best hotel though. I manage a hotel and suggest you choose Mon - Thurs days for staying in Vegas. Avoid the weekend the rates are 4x as high as the weekdays. And avoid the holidays. Going 1 week earlier will save over 600 on your planned trip.

I know the timing is shit for price, but my buddy turns 21 on new years eve, so defeats the purpose of the trip.

I would be down for going to vegas another time, but new years eve just sounds so much better. Call me crazy.

Ive thought about putting vodka in my camelback, not sure how well that would work, but yeah will definately be buying beer from a store and liquor as well. Im big on pregaming to avoid bar prices, Ill get half wasted then go and sip a beer or 2 at the bar, though I heard a liquor slushy exists that will get you just downright XXXXed up. Confirm?

Thanks for the intel, Ive been reading alot on http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php
Seems pretty handy.

More details on this pleasure pit, because if I go and the name was just a trap to lure suckers like myself in, well Ill just be heartbroken Lol

Can you confirm the existance of some kind of Slushy that will get u plastered after just 1? Buddys have been telling me about it for ages but have no pictures or proof.

I dont have a players club card, but obviously I need one desperately.

Thanks for all the info folks, keep it coming.

If the goal is getting trashed in vegas then yes the slushies will wreck you well enough and they are not too bad in the price. Getting drinks is not hard in Vegas you only need to play some games and a server will be by to ask what type of drink you want for free. The catch is you have to sit in one place for a little bit. Once you do that they will continue to bring you drinks as long as you are siting there.

I do recommend that you not be stumbling drunk on the streets. When i was there I saw lots of people in the night waiting to take advantage of trashed visitors. Also watch out for the cabbies, they are aggressive and will run you down on "accident". I saw 2 people get bumped by a taxi not more than 12 feet from a cop who then yelled at the pedestrian.

*I still recommend have a smaller party for your pal at home on his birthday and plan a bigger adventure 2 or 3 weeks later. Because the more money you save on lodging, transportation, and flights means the more you will have for food, drinks and entertainment. Believe me your money will dissapear fast enough.

We aren't 100% sure yet what we should do, but yeah I agree, the slushie is more or less what I intend to drink just a moment before we get on the flights back LOL.

I know how the cabbies are, and am not scared of being bumped, but depending how intoxicated I am I will probably pick a fight with said cabbie.

Does it matter which games I play? Do I actually have to continually play or can I just sit there and get tanked? Direct me :)

Yeah we are discussing the option of the party locally, but he is beyond gungho for vegas lol. Last night we also discussed Miami, but I dunno, doesnt seem as much fun to me.
