Some of you guys really do have a little romance in you. Today is my 20th wedding anniversary, we had a condo in Vegas lined up for the week but everything has been postponed due to an injury. Oh well, after 20 years we both have developed some perspective and will enjoy our big celebrations later. A quiet dinner out for us tonight will suffice. For anybody curious about getting married on V-day, let me point out an advantage that should be obvious: In addition to the inherent love and romance involved, it's impossible to forget your annniversary. I go to any store in early February and they are so nice about it, putting up displays with flowers and hearts to remind me that my big day is coming and celebrating it with me with sales and such.
Plus, I got to wear red shoes and a tux with little hearts on the bow tie and cummerbund at the wedding. :)

Been married 32 years. My wife was a professional florist. I never get her flowers when expected, such as Valentines Day, Birthday, etc, but always when she doesn't expect it, probably 10 times a year.

And thats how it should be right there. Valentines day is a joke. If you can't show her you care like that year round. And you need a holiday to mandate the gifts. Then you have bigger problems. My GFs have always gotten flowers at random times. I have never "celebrated" V-day with any of them.

I dug out the kids crayons and some construction paper and spent 10 minutes making her a Vday card.

My wife never really cared for gifts. She likes quality time and acts of service (From the book "The five love languages") So all week I've been helping out with her chores arouned the house. Nothing says I love you like washing dishes and folding towels.:dunno:
Last night rocked!

I agree that you shouldnt have to have the calender dictate when you should love someone more. But it was there, so I figured she would get somewhat upset if I let it pass. Some may call me stupid because we've only been together 3 months. I feel confident she's the one though, she wants to help me build my stroker. I got her: my hair cut(she had asked a couple days earlier) single rose, a bag of Reeses peanut butter cups(her favorite candy) and then i hung a diamond heart necklace from her rearview mirror. Seeing her that happy made me go crazy... I love that girl

I really screwed myself on Valentines gifts forever a couple of years ago. I surprised here with a trip to Rome for a week. I'll never top that.

Hell Tom...next time you want to go to Rome, give me a call...:D

I got it made....my wife doesn't really like flowers...:D

I got a dozen roses with a balloon and teddy bear which I gave to the dog. It was first time he did anything for v-day in 7 years.

I'm not into that stuff, but it's the thought that counts.

I really wanted this Fendi watch I've been eyeing, but I did the woman thing and went back and forth, finally telling him I didn't want it because it was too expensive and of course he listened.

I didn't get him anything.

That's what I thought. Like all the times I've been told, "I don't want you to get me something, I want you TO WANT to get me something". So I show up from work with nothing but a kiss and my reassurance to my wife that I WANTED to get her something, and now it's just me, mr. couch, and mr. hand. Screw Valentine's Day.

With you, or alone? You might be able to top it my sending her there again, but alone this time :D

ps - I got her a $50 arrangement of three yellow roses (her favorite), one for each kid, with an assortment of other flowering stuff in a vase. I delivered it myself. If you're waiting for V-day to do something for her, just go ahead and do it - don't wait. But, do not let V-day pass without something. That "Oh, you didn't have to get me anything" with that little smile is worth a whole mountain of trying to make up for missing it.

I buy my wife planted flowers, that way they last a couple weeks. I can't stand paying for dead plants......
that's what I got my wife for our anniversary on the 4th, they're still blooming.

Her Valentine's day gift was me getting my ass up at 0430 to take her and her co worker to work in the 18" of snow we had.

I didn't get anything from her, either - well...

...not until Thursday morning, anyway :D

IMO, if you ever listen to your girl when they say you don't need to do/get them anything for ANY "special" event (V-Day, Birthday, etc) then you must not pay attention to all the info out there about how women think... They are tricky... perhaps evil. So next time no matter what, get them something special.

Re: Valentine’s day

Hmmmm....I got butt-raped on the flowers, lost 1.5 hrs of work getting them to her, and missed my breakfast.

She got me the Best of Jane's Addiction CD....

'bout broke even on that one, I think :laugh3:
