update, 36s on 4" lift.

the dakota leafs still provide lift, but you just won't be able to trim as much as him and run 36s. You MAY be able to run 33s with some trimming. I think the Dakota leaf thing gives 3 or 4 inches in the rear. basically you can just mix and match leaves from anything with 2.5 inch wide springs and lots of arch. S-10s and Comanches would be good donors as well.

i see. thanks for the info. 33s will ahve to do. that is my original plan anyway. ok.. off to the junkyard.

also, one more question.
is it worth my money to lock my rear d35? my thinking is just wheel it til it crocks. i think it will be smarter to leave the d30 at the front open. comment?

i am new to the xj world.

i wheeled a d30 (with 260x joints) and d35(non c-clip), both open, on 33s for a good part of a year and never broke, though I did carry spare shafts. I was always worried, and very surprised I never broke. add a locker into that mix and there's no way. Open diffs does wonders for preventing breakage. Get an XJ or MJ D44 ('87-89) or a newer 29 spline XJ Chrysler 8.25 or Explorer 8.8 and lock it up. For the front, 96 and older have 260x joints which will do pretty well with an open front diff. 97 and up XJs have 297x joints which will do pretty well with a locked front on 33s.

well, right now money is the problem. so, poor man gotta lift that xj cheap and right. i know d30 should be strong cause a lot of explorers uses d30 and d35 for SAS.
