Kind of busy the next couple of weekends but checking to see if anyone wants to get out on Saturday, 01-20-07.

Open to suggestions as to where etc.

Could even go up to Florence Junction area or ? if some folks up that way want to get together. Like to get to meet some of the folks up that way. Would need a trail leader (Steve - Arizona XJ?) or someone that knows the area.

Anyhow, post up and let's see what happens!!

I think that’s doable. Box canyon/coke ovens is a favorite scenic trip. Most others in the area are harder so it depends on what you’re looking for. Maybe one of the local phx guys may want to lead because I know they go there all the time. I just can’t recall ever seeing an xj in that area though.

The military is scheduled to close cottonwood canyon rd the weekend of the 20th. That means all trail traffic would be going in and out through box canyon.

Maybe, I've got some forms to strip at my house, and then a locker into the rear end of the Toy.

Anything farther south towards SV?

HMMMM, thats a tough one, Work or Wheel???? OK, I will go.......LOL

Hopefully will have my roof rack and some skid plates done by then.

If no roofRack, no go unless someone has room for my spare tire. Kinda like last trip, poor BigAZXJ had to carry mine and his up there. But then again, its probably the only thing that kept him from rolling over going down the chute. LOL

Don't need no stinkin' spare tire!! :skull1:

I got a 33" spare now, traded off the 35's. I'm sure between us we'll have a spot for it. Don't know if Gavin will be running the Toyo or Steve's J-20.

Still looking for suggestions.

This would be fun but seeing how the 20th is my B'day..but I dont think the new XJ will be ready:tear:

Brian, have a happy birthday on the 20th. What are your plans for that pretty little rig you picked up?

When you get it ready let me know. I'd like to get up in that part of the state and do a little wheeling. I've got some property outside Holbrook I like to see once in awhile.

Looking forward to getting further north and meeting some of the NAXJA folks up that way!!

Im spending my Bday money in Page this weekend putting on a radio control rock crawling event.......hopefully will have a good turnout.

as for the rig

I have picked up a super 30 and super 35 kit for it used......will truss the heck out of both, ARB front Detroit rear. 4;56 gears

RE short arm 5.5" with bastard leaf rear packs, MJ XJ combo

Tj flares
rockrails of some sort.......still designing
maxxis bighorn MT's 255/85R 16 (34 x 10.50)
cragar soft 8"s
proto fab front winch bumper
custom rear bumper
rebuild the ramsey 9000 winch
co2 tank setup
body armour and some cutting
it will be ready for the tough stuff.

What we really need is an event in Sedona.

That way we can all show up, and we could even let a certain yellow TJ attend.

Couple days camping on the creek would be good. Maybe early spring?

I like that idea fergie. I’ll bring a fly rod. I’ve wheeled the broken arrow trail and know the stream fairly well, at least where the wiley salmo trutta are, lol. Broken arrow is not for the faint of heart if you can’t stomach lots and lots of pink jeeps. Last time it took us over a half hour to cross the road after getting the red rock permit when we headed to the trail head. The city slicker traffic is unbelievable.

Has anyone been on any other trails there?

As for the 20th if some of you haven’t been to the coke ovens via box canyon that would be a good trip A stock xj with at least 30” tires should have few problems. Commandoxj96, you could do this trail. This would be a good introduction to the florence, az area via box canyon.

If you want to do this day trip I could lead. Brian I can carry your spare tire. It would be a full day going in and coming back out through the box. Both box canyon and the coke ovens are very scenic and easy enough for semi stock jeeps to wheel, especially since there would be several well built rigs in attendance.

Any other suggestions?

I'd be up for the Box Canyon Coke Ovens run on the 20th. Sounds like a fun trip. Maybe some of the folks from the Phoenix area could tie in.

The sedona camping run in the Spring sounds awesome. Me & the wife are definately up for that.

BOX CANYON AND COKE OVENS SOUNDS GOOD.
THE XJ SHOULD BE PAINTED BY THEN SO IT WONT BE SO UGLY...

Don't know what made me laugh more. You thinking paint will make your rig "un-ugly" or your signature regarding being an "asshat"!:roflmao: :roflmao: :eyes:

Ya know Jim, I saw a license plate frame that seems to fit Justing perfect at this point in time.
It said: " I am a Beautician NOT a Magician "

C'mon J, its only paint, and we all know it will be BRIGHT green. LOL

Anyway, Thanks for offering to carry my spare for me Jim, I will keep that in mind if my rack is not built by then. I am hoping to get it built by then, but I have been slammed at work lately so we will see.

Also, Looks like there is snow up in the mountains by Reddington pass, I am prolly heading up to play Tomorrow if any of you guys have kids, feel free to tag along. I got them a sled and there ready to go.

LOL
