Never got a clear answer on this. Once it starts, will the gas pedal cause the rpms to go up cleanly and fast?Did it rev fine when not in gear.
The tps can be bad and give you enough fuel to start and idle and even get the rpms up if you go slowly, but once you put a load on the engine, it will fuel starve and die.
Without rereading the whole post, another common problem can be the cps cable laying against the exhause manifold and burning through, then as soon as the engine has to put out the least amount of torque, it rotates due to the flex in the motor mounts and the cps shorts out, killing the engine.
A third thing can be the braided strap from the firewall to the driver's side rear of the head. You can check this by hooking a jumper cable from the block to the body.
On early Renix units there is a connector called C101 mounted above the brake booster. They are notorious for crappy connections.
Good luck.
