Well finally got around to doing this. got the fronts finished. but didn't get around to doing the rears. probably do those this week.

but my question is. after trimming and removing the liner. i noticed that now you can see alot of the front door threw the fender. normally the liner would cover this area. what are people doing about this? modding the stock liner? or using something else to stick in there?

edit: never mind. found some info about using a pool noodle :D

That's just nasty...

I saw what the "pool noodle" does, and I'm not exactly behind that whole thing- I'd love to see a better alternative! Somthing about a neon-pink pool noodle glaring out of the wheelwell just creeps me out, sorry.

So far, my cutting hasn't made me lose the OE rubber stuff, so I'm pretty happy- but I know the day of reckoning is coming. Where I work I have access to thin rubber sheet material, and I was considering taking the OE stuff out, and cutting up a new piece with the additional material "added" to the new part- but I'm open to any new ideas.

I fiberglassed mine up. I did not expect it to last constantly being beaten by rocks and dirt. But so far so good. I stops everything from getting back in the door jam area and it makes it significantly easier to clean up after wheeling.

ya i hear ya guy's. i don't want to have to put a florescent noodle in there. but if i have to in the meantime till i can figure out a better solution i guess thats what i'll have to do.

now the problem finding a pool noodle in winter in canada. not exactly a easy find. :D

pipe insulation from HomeDepot would work and its not neon pink.
first time to post back but i used to work at hd they get a slip sheet on a lot of the pallets it is a thick plastic about 3/32 thick it works great for reforming liners and it is free if you speak to the right person.

X2. The stuff I used is tan. Matches the interior. JIM.

the pipe insulation also comes in various thickness, I have seen nothing but black around here. I'm a little confused with the expanding foam.? do you use it with the pool noodle/pipe insulation? pics? I do know that that stuff can be quite messy ... and I still haven't put anything in mine. so thanks for reminding me

Bought a pressure washer...

Jam the nozzle in there, turn it on full blast, move it around a little bit. Comes out squeeky clean every time! :laugh3:

that's what I've been doing but it gets to be a pain in the arse trying to get all the funk out of the door side of the fender

I would not use the expanding foam, most of it holds moisture. JIM.

yes don't use expanding foam, specially if you live in the north country, holds the water right against the old sheet metal. Just go to a hardware, k-mart, wlamart, etc. adn get a pool noodle of you choice color, then trim to fit. I had a choice of deep purple or pink. Went with the purple and you can barely see it against the black.
