Treks Y-link

I've been running the TnT's LA's for a few (maybe more now?) years. I don't run swaybars, no limit straps, 11" travel RE monotubes, and YJ brake lines with relocated top mounts. The shocks and brake lines max out about the same time and never damaged either of them from doing it. I have blown shocks, but that was from another accident (always make sure your panhard is bolted in solid...losing the axle end while going 50mph on a bumpy road is NOT a good way to start your morning, especially when it's below 0 that day). And at the same time, I've never lost a coil, but I ALWAYS keep the bottom fastened. Before with the stock keepers, and now with a sandwiched plate style mount in my new setup.

I think I also might be the one Andy was talking about tearing off an upper pass. side mount. Did it at NACfest. Finished wheeling with it torn off, drove like 7-8hrs home with it flopping around, then kept driving it to work like that for weeks before made my own mount. Haven't had a problem since.

lol nice! yea i was planning on doing something with that mount.. just some simple gusset type thing. good to know you can still move w/out it. happen to have any pics of your UCA?

Yep, you were the first one I saw... I have seen it happen a few other times since then.

Last year I cut off almost all of the axle mounts and redid them. The UCA stayed the same so I'm pretty sure I have some pics of it, I'll see what I can dig up.

Don't look too closely. I was still getting used to my welder, so don't mind the overkill built up welds lol. And if I were to do it again, I would have had something encapsulate the bushing sleeve for more strength. Then again I also might have used a different bushing as well instead of a new stock bushing. That being said, it has held up fine.

Upright is 1.5"x1.5" box tube with top notched/folded in. Brace is 1.5"x.75" box tube. Both were just scrap I had laying around. Eventually I planned on incorporating it into a truss, but haven't gotten around to it.

Yeah, if I had braced mine to begin with things might have been different, but at the time didn't know how week it was. It sheared off completely where the bends are in the sides of the mount if you know where I'm talking about. So I had to start from scratch. Seems to be holding up fine.

nice! ive been reading alot of peoples Y-Link installs.. first ive seen of that one tho

just looked through this thread (came across it by accident looking at 35" Km2s on XJs)

This is Fitch VA, guy is a wiring guru designed the Fitchbox and some other stuff that I read about here many times.

Looks like he JUST INSTALLED THIS

 yup. still putting the finishing touches on it. but i took it for a ride this weekend and it rides GREAT. the y-link kit is top notch. but i will admit, the kit install at the same time as unibody stiffeners flat out SUCKS. but now that it's done, it's like driving a whole new xj. once my limit straps show up, i'll be testing it out off road
