Tree Damage. Driveable? Repairable?

Rather be safe than sorry, you know wht I mean?

Comp doesn't care about value, that's true, but over the course of one year, paying an extra hundred dollars a month for even one year is $1200. If the Jeep is only worth $2000, put the $100 aside every month you'll have enough to buy a new Jeep.

Ahhh that will buff right out......

just remove the interior pieces and bang it back out. The window area still looks very usable so just hit the rest out and call it good. The way I figure it its a Jeep not a Lamborghini or a Ferrari. Time to wheel it like you stole it, then cage it and wheel it some more..

extra $100? as a male under 25 driving a RED cherokee under full coverage i dont even pay $100. id hate to live in your state, have your provider, or have your driving record.

chop it if you can afford a dedicated trail rig. just dont be this guy:

The damage to the roof can be easily repaired by a body shop or you could get fancy and install a nice roof slider setup that will strengthen the whole roof. Or you could cage it and go put some dents in it for character. :D

The front end dammage dose not look that bad. I crashed through a brick wall in my first jeep and rear ended my friends car at 25-ish MPH in that same jeep. :gee:
Both times i was able to bolt on new parts and the jeep looked OK...at 10 ft. :D

Just go to the junkyard and find a new fender, bumper, front clip, and bumper bracket. You should be able to bolt on most of the parts without too much hassle.

your jeep is absolutely fixable and safe to drive. there junksyard all around with parts to fix it up and a few threads on here where you can see how to do a nice looking rattle can paint job and her looking almost new in no time without breaking the bank! that is one reason why cherokee are so amazing!

So, you'd hate to pay $130/month for full coverage on two vehicles plus liability/fire/theft/vandalism on the XJ? CA does have somewhat higher rates than the rest of the country, but I live in the boonies where everything's cheaper and still get a decent rate.

I threw out the $100 figure since someone else had used it earlier. My point still stands. Whatever you pay extra every month adds up quickly to equal the value of the XJ. Set that money aside and have the money to buy a new XJ when the time comes.

sounds like a damn good rate to me. lol. i was making the point that even with the worste possible crudentials (male, < 25, yada yada) that full coverage was still affordable. people are different, i know people who will have nothing BUT full coverage on a vehicle and others who could care less.

personally:
i no longer have the red XJ and only have limited liability on my current DD only paying $50/mo or so. do i wish i had the piece of mind? sometimes. especially if i was the OP. but the money im saving definantly isnt enough to "buy a new jeep when the time comes."

like i said, people are different and have their own values and ideals. debating about how to spend ones money wisely isnt going to do us much good ya know?

X2, if you don't like driving a beat to hell vehicle as your DD (and are presently), buy a different car as your DD.

Wheel it till the wheels fall off.

Thanks for all the input! It's driving good, so far, so I'll be keeping it a bit longer. No more or less creaking than there usually is. Here's a shot of the passenger side after the tree was removed. Rear doors are inoperable until the roof is hammered out of the way. There's also damaged to the driver side back window frame that will have to be bent back before new glass can go in.

this might be a little over the top, but what if you go and cut the roof off a junkyard XJ, and then cut it to fit yours and weld the two together. As for the bent B and C pillars cut those out and replace. I've always thought it would be cool to do something like this but use fiber glass to shave weight.

I don't think you could weld another roof on without needing to cage it. If I am going to go that far, I'd softtop it, instead.

Also, keep in mind the most powerful modification tool I have access to at this time is a BFH. :P

Soft-top would be cool you would have a Jeep XJ Targa
