Rather be safe than sorry, you know wht I mean?
Comp doesn't care about value, that's true, but over the course of one year, paying an extra hundred dollars a month for even one year is $1200. If the Jeep is only worth $2000, put the $100 aside every month you'll have enough to buy a new Jeep.
So, you'd hate to pay $130/month for full coverage on two vehicles plus liability/fire/theft/vandalism on the XJ? CA does have somewhat higher rates than the rest of the country, but I live in the boonies where everything's cheaper and still get a decent rate.extra $100? as a male under 25 driving a RED cherokee under full coverage i dont even pay $100. id hate to live in your state, have your provider, or have your driving record.
chop it if you can afford a dedicated trail rig. just dont be this guy:

X2, if you don't like driving a beat to hell vehicle as your DD (and are presently), buy a different car as your DD.Ahhh that will buff right out......
just remove the interior pieces and bang it back out. The window area still looks very usable so just hit the rest out and call it good. The way I figure it its a Jeep not a Lamborghini or a Ferrari. Time to wheel it like you stole it, then cage it and wheel it some more..
this might be a little over the top, but what if you go and cut the roof off a junkyard XJ, and then cut it to fit yours and weld the two together. As for the bent B and C pillars cut those out and replace. I've always thought it would be cool to do something like this but use fiber glass to shave weight.
I don't think you could weld another roof on without needing to cage it. If I am going to go that far, I'd softtop it, instead.
Also, keep in mind the most powerful modification tool I have access to at this time is a BFH.![]()
