Transmission Fluid Question

Jiffy Lube won't change it unless you sign a waiver? If that was coming from a reputable organization I might believe it, but c'mon...it's Jiffy Lube for crap's sake.

My Wj doesn't have a drain plug so I thought about going to Jiffy for a flush.
I called them and asked about the fluid they'd use, I was told that they use Dexron III plus additives to turn it into the ATF+4 that the WJ needs.
I wasn't impressed, I bought ATF+4 from the dealer, disconnected a cooling hose, started up, put it in reverse while I was pouring ATF in (had to stop a couple of times to catch up) and the tranny now has brand new ATF+4.
In my XJs, everytime I change the oil (10K-15K) I just dump the ATF too.
I have a gallon container marked for how much ATF I need, fill it to that point and pour it in. Fast, no trial and error.

This looks like a dead-thread that has risen again, but I'll drop my $.02 in as well. I got a '92 this fall with 111K miles on it, most of the Jeep didn't look like they had been very meticulous about the service. I drove it for a few hundred miles, then took it to Jiffy Lube for a trans flush- the old came out very black but not as sticky & tar-like as I have seen before, just dark.

After the flush I dropped about 200RPM for the same speed and have a little more response when I hit the gas. I have about 2K miles on it now and NO problems, but that's early yet.

IMO, change the fluid. I don't see the point if running thick, sludgy dirty fluid just because that is what's been in there for so long.
