Transmission dodge ram question

My buddy has a 00 ram 1500 and the trans is going out. We don't wanna put in another trans from the same year due to the defect. Is there and other quality trans we could use?

The 2000 should have the 545rfe trans, which doesn't have a real defect. Do you know for sure what trans it has in it?

No I do not. But I will find out.

My 2000 dodge ram had the 46re tranny in it. When i had to have it rebuilt i had them put all the 47re internals into it to beef it up a bit for when i had a trailer and jeep behind the truck. Never had a problem with it after that and had put over 40,000 miles on it before i sold the truck.

I wouldn't bother swapping, just getting it rebuilt with some upgrades should be good to go.
