Transfer case confusion

So i am right in the middle of rebuilding my np231 and i have been doing a whole bunch of reaserch and while looking at the explodes view of parts on different sites i noticed that the np231 is shown with a yoke on the rear output shaft. mine is a spline shaft. I already looked at the case and it is labeled as a np231. Am i going nuts????

Just in case you guys need to know, it is a 97 with a 4.0 and ax15 manual tranny.

NP231 transfer cases came in a bunch of different vehicles. Some had a slip shaft, and I believe that some did have a yoke (which ones elude me at the moment.)

If you're replacing the chain, do yourself a favor and get the wider chain and sprockets out of an NP231D. And maybe a 6 planetary set as well.

The Dodge chain is wider, and thus, stronger. As is the 6 planetary over the standard 3 planetary.
