I bought a pair of HF 12 ton stands yesterday. Lowered my XJ onto them and one stand immediately collapsed. Took them back for a refund.

With stands like that you are safer working with just the jack in place.

Unless it's a HF jack! Their floor jacks scare the snot out of me. I won't own one.

I have a pair of the 12 ton stands, though. Glad the MJ is on a Craftsman set at moment.

same happened to me, the pin that holds the retaining pawl snapped. i replaced it with a piece of mild steel rod and its been fine for 8 years, my project chassis in the garage is sitting off the ground on them right know and has been for 2 years as a matter of fact.
