Topo programs for the computer

I am looking at buying a topo map program for my laptop....one that I can use with my GPS...Just wondering what other people were using and what they thought of them. eace:

What make of GPS. Garmin I know uses only its own programs. You can download track info from another program but for the topo maps you have to buy their TOPO program. Runs about 100 dollars.

I don't want to run the topo program on the gps...I want to use the gps in conjuntion with my laptop running a topo program of some sort. I have a magellan but I don't want there crappy topo program. Just something for the computer.

Delorme Topo USA ver ?.0 I have ver 5.0 works great with laptop, you can also get their Street Atlas USA. Go to their website Delorme.com and you can look at them and get a discount. I know the new Street Atlas is out and It's 39.95 for past users 49.95 regular. I been using them for about 14 years or more since ver 1. It even talks to you to tell you when to turn.

I've been using Delorme also and I've liked it.

I've played with the Garmin crap and wasn't impressed. It had a crappy user interface and the detail was junk.

National Geographic makes some great topo's that track with your gps.

PM Ecksjay and see what he's using. It's a cool program from what I've seen.
