howdy. girlfriends 02 tj 4cyl 40k standard, stumbles badly during acceleration. if you use light throtle it dosent do it but with any go pedal it realy stumbles bad. i havent pulled any plugs or checked the distributor (not sure it even has one) but was just wondering if if this rings a bell for any sensor issus, the CE light is not on but i have not checked it with a scanner to see if anything is stored. tune up and scan are in my future just ondering if this is something anyone has seen before

If it's an '02 it doesn't have a distributer. It's got a crank sensor. Also, check the plugs, or just change them. If that doesn't help, change the wires. Try changing the air filter, and checking the intake tubing. When was the last time the oil was changed? If it was pulling codes than the CE light would come on. Try some routine maintenace stuff like changing the oil, spark plugs, plug wires. If it still does it, have your injectors checked.

O.o...Cory

Before you change the plugs run a 20 oz bottle of Chevron Techron or BG44 thru the gas tank, clean the throttle body with a good TB spray cleaner but keep it out of the sensors. Then do the plugs. No wires IIRC, its a coil on plug rail, fires two plugs at the same time.
