Tires

I am trying to figure which tire to go with. I am looking into BFG AT KO's, seeing how they are proved. However, I have heard the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's are really good too. Atleast I have narrowed it down to 2 different tires. Any help would be good.

When I was at my local timmies I saw a TJ with some interesting tires. They were 32x12 but the tread pattern seemed to be for mud snow but it looked like a rock climbing tire. I don't know the name of it though but I've seen his Jeep come around often enough too maybe get the name of the tires he uses. The great thing is though when he pulled away I couldn't here any road noise from his tires. Some of those even "mild" tires make a racket comming down the road. If I see that guy there again I'll make note of what kind of tires he has. I hope he doesn't think I want to steal them. :shocked:

I looked up both tires on the net and the revo's looked similar to the ones that my brother in law just bought for his truck. They arn't the same I don't think but grab the soil really well which is good in his case since he has peatmossy type of soil around his property. I think though that since winter is comming around it would probably be best to invest in more of a snow oriented tire for now.

They are both good tires but the Revos do better on wet roads and are about equal in other aspects. They're a little quieter too but neither are loud.

I love my Revos, by far the best A/T tires I've ever had.

Ok, so if I went with the Revo, which one do I go for out of the following?

Size:235/75SR15
Load Rating: C

or

Size:235/75SR15

Can anyone tell me why one has a 50,000 mile warranty and the other does not?

I'd personally go with the one with the 50K mile warranty, even though there is a good chance you won't need it. The difference is probably in the sidewalls and the one without the mileage warranty is probably a LT tire and has a higher load range. LT tires usually don't have a mileage warranty. I guess becuase they assume you will be towing with it and towing eats up tires faster.

Thats what mine are and the sidewalls definitely seem enough. Although, I don't go out rock crawling in it, I jsut pla in the woods some.

Sorry, should have been more clear. Whatever ones it is that came with the 50K mile warranty. I can look later to tell you the exact tire if need be. I'm running the 235/75/15s

I don't know if they still do it or not, but I got the buy three get one free deal when they werent even advertising it. Apparently at the Bridgestone/Firestone dealers the manager can offer deals if they want to make a sale. I just went in there said I was looking around at A/T tires. I said I'd heard good things about the Revos but they are kinda high and I don't know if I can spend that much. They sales person in the room didn't offer anything, so I was about to leave. The manager was watching and stopped me and offered me the deal. So I went for it. They really are great tires, I've never had such good things to say about a set of tires before.

The longevity of the BFG's is amazing, I have almost 50k on mine and they still look pretty darn good (well over 50% left).
Wet traction is a different story, very easy to break free with just light throttle cornering.

Thats one of the things that impresses me the most about the Revos is how well they grip when trying to accelerate on wet pavement. I have Yokahama Geolander A/Ts on it before hand, and even when they were new, it was really hard to get traction when trying to pull out into traffic. With the Revos I can accelerate with much more confidence. I have to try to break them loose.

As far as the wear goes, they are too new to tell 100% but they appear to be wearing very well. I have about 25K miles on them and they have barely worn at all. I had them in for my free balance and rotate a few thousand miles ago and they had only worn 2/32. I drive pretty agressively too and I never get good tire mileage so thats pretty impressive. I do keep them balanced, rotated, and properly inflated though.

Btw, I forgot to mention. They really impressed me how well they do in the snow when I'm up in the mountains. BFG A/Ts do very well in the snow too.

BFG A/T's over 80K on my 31's. I have NEVER been disappointed by BFG, niether the A/T's or the M/T's. I run M/T's on the heap, and A/T's on my Excursion and my Ranger.

I drive pretty agressively and they don't handle like A/Ts, they've really surprised me. The Revos with the Bilstein shocks hold the road surpisingly well. I can go surprisingly fast around corners w/o squealing the tires or feeling out of control. Its not like driving a sports car but it was a definite improvement in handling.

I've played around on gravel roads some, going fast around corners, flooring it, etc (just playing around) and they grip pretty darn good. You can still loose it if you arent careful or get too wreckless, but they do about as good as you could expect them too.

I have been thinking about donating my XJ's tire to the YJ so I can have some fresh tread for winter on the dd.
I am definately going to take a look at the Revo's as a replacement.

im getting new tires. just ordered the revos. i did quite a bit of reading and heard nothing but good news bout them. and wat i jsut heard made me that much more confident with my decision. ill let u know how they are in a few weeks.

I'm a big fan of the Bridgestone Dueller A/T Revos. I have the 235/75R15's on my XJ. The main difference between the standard Duellers or the BFGs is that the Revos are a duel compound tire. Once they start wearing down they wear down to a stickier compound tire to compensate for the loss of tread depth. I use my Jeep primarily as a street vehicle, and more importantly so I can fearlessly drive on the roads of Wisconsin. I've already torture tested these tires through one pretty good snow storm this year and can tell you that for snow on pavement they are pretty grippy and I highly recomend them. I have them on 15x8 American Eagles with a 2" lift. The MPG aren't that impressive, but the grip is. Just my 2 cents.

just got back from tahoe with my brand new revos (probably less than 500 miles on them). they are awesome. never lost traction (except for wen i reallly tried to) and never had to put it in 4wd. with my old tires id probably be dead right now from sliding off a cliff. i love my revos!!!

I got the 225/75r/15 revos in june. they stick like crazy on dry pavement, work well in the rain, and work great in snow up to about an inch on the road.-

slid off the road into a ditch (~8inches of snow), and after some manuvering was able to make it out.


the biggest improvements I've noticed are when accelerating around a corner (really have to try to spin the tires), and stopping power. (have to slam on the brakes to slide at all.)-

one bad thing I've noticed is they seem to be wearing pretty fast. I don't see them making it 50,000mi before the tread gets too low for my tastes.

I think the dueller a/ts make a great DD tire.- If I ever get a lift done, I'm thinking 31/10.5/15s Revos would be great for the street/highway..
