I've got a 99 with the 3.5" Rubicon Express lift. It has 31" tires and stock jeep wheels. They are the five spoke grey with polished lip. The tires have been rubbing only on the driver's side lower control arm. Anyone else have rubbing with the stock wheels? I'm guessing my only options are either wheel spacers or different wheels?

Oh, and I'm a new member.

I've been running 265x75r16 (about 32") with stock wheels for years. Mostly I just don't turn the wheel to the point of rubbing. When I need to turn sharp, the knobs on the tires bump my tubular control arms. It hasn't caused a problem.

Add a washer behind the steering stop on the knuckle.

If it only rubs on 1 side either your axle isn't centered or your drag link needs adjusted. Adjust the drag link so it is longer and that may fix your issue. In my opinion the steering stops are the worst solution as all you are doing is reducing your steering range. Black steel 15" wheels can be found for $50 each new and will fix the rubbing without reducing the steering angle.

The stock lock nuts are usually tack welded. That wouldn't stop anybody from using their own bolt and lock nut.

On my 95 ZJ I just used WJ lift arms. They have an inward bend to help with tire clearance... Worked great with a 2 1/2" lift with 31s on stock wheels...
