One of my first thoughts after 9/11, was we are really in the chit now, if the US government doesn´t deal with this, with SERIOUS INTENT. The U.S.A. could be seriously diminished. Seems world oppinion on how to deal with it, is seriously fragmented, beginning of the end?
Remember the old saying about the "Domino Affect", if the U.S.A goes down, many nations, are soon to follow.
The Fathers letter, to his son´s, summed up the situation, much better than I can (though if you ever read back my posts, you will notice the thinking is amazingly parralell, though the my articulation, much more primitive).
How many nations can actually stand alone? Without the U.S. Seems much of North America would implode, if the U.S. suffered a major depression and/or serious defeat. Don´t believe Canada or Mexico could stand on there own. Much of West Europe and Eastern (Pacific) Asia, could barley survive, without the U.S. as a market.
They talk of the U:S: being energy hogs and the worlds largest consumers. What the heck would much of the world DO, without that market? Doubt they would thrive, more probably, there economies would also shrink.
I live in Germany, have always believed, as an uncontested fact. As the U.S. goes, so goes Germany. Don´t beleive Germany, could make it on it´s own and a secondary "Domino Affect", would be shrinking European markets.
Does anybody actually believe, Canada, Germany, France or even a coilition of all of the above (fat chance) could deal with the situation?
France for all there posturing, has the GDP/population of California and Oregon combined. Pretty impressive until compared to the entire U.S.
If the U.S. doesn´t deal with the problem or chooses to deal with appearances, rather than substance, who else is going to do it. Playing Ostrich is only gonna help so long, then what?
Feel free to correct my spelling and grammar errors (German spell checker, turns out some interesting results  )
