Is there any way to make a 1988 Cherokee with a 4.0, AW4 33s and 4.88 gears be able to spin the tires on dry pavement and in a straight line? I know it is only around a 160 HP but it lacks the sack it should have. I imaging a fresh build or a stroker would help but there is no need to build a new motor since this one runs and there is no noise leaks etc...

Put some 409 or windex on the tires. It will help them break them loose and burn off shortly there after. Makes for good smoke, but me thinks a tired 4.0 would blow up at sustained high rpms.

i used to drift in my old XJ it had a spooled 44 and bald 33 TSL's. but only when it was wet out.

you could always but some bald or worn out 31's and go nuts. it'll save you your 33's

WHY? I would think the price of tires you wouldn't want to waste them
I want the power to do it I don't necessarily want to do it. I know my wifes stock 99 comes close so I wasn't sure if there was anything that could be done performance wise (without going into internals) that could get me there or close. I drive like a Pepere so actually going out and spinning the tires will likely never happen

i could do it with my five speed.... i broke some stuff treatin my jeep like a camaro, though. alls ya gotta do is get on some fresh blacktop parking lot, tach it up to around 5 grand, and dump the clutch. if you don't break a motor mount, transmission mount, ujoint, or twizzler the driveshaft, or break a pinion yoke, you'll spin the piss out of them tires, for at least a second or two....:D

I used to do it with my 5 speed, 31's, and 4.10's.

Then I put the fan through the rad.

power brake.. I can spin my 33x14.00 boggers with 3.55s
you should have no problems.
