has anyone bought tires on the internet im finding them way cheaper there then at all these tire shops summitraceing wants 139 for 31 11.5 swamper ltb and discount tire wants 230 for the same tire

I have done both for different reasons.

Keep in mind that if you buy the tires over the internet you will still need the following:
1. Shipping tires.
2. Mounted
3. Balanced
4. Rotated
5. Warranty Claims

I think you will find that it may or may not be worth the hassle, cost, effort depending on how you purchase them.

If you don't have a "in" with a local shop it might be difficult to get anything mounted balanced locally if they are not purchased through them.

Warranty Claims can be nearly impossible through internet companies also, plus shipping.

I have had good luck getting local shops to match prices of the internet (with shipping).

I say buy them off the net. I got my swampers from summit, and mounted/balanced them myself. Fix a flat ? Learn to do it yourself.. and be useful on the trails. Manufacture warranty on the tire should work anywhere who sells the same tire.

If you're just talking your basic flat tire from standard road hazard type of stuff, then yeah, either Schwab or Discount will almost always fix it for you for free. If you're talking damage that requires replacement of the tire, you'll be out of luck without a receipt of purchase from said business that includes the "free replacement" warranty.

be wary of internent warrenties gernerally they will make you send your tire back to them. This can be quite a hassle if it is the only set of tires you have.

when you buy from schwab you are paying for there warrenty. I personally prefer this that way if i need a rotation or balancing its free. I still know how to manually mount a tire and I think its a painus in the anus and that is why i let the boys a schwabbies do it

ill match online pricing for ya. all we would do is add up what you would pay for the tires shipped to your door. then add what you would pay to get them mounted. usually around 80-100 bucks. then that would be your price. NIce thing about buying local is you dont have to ship your tire back east to get replaced. i work for the discount tire in the renton higlands. if i can be any help give me a call 425-226-6706 ask for kyle or dave

thanks i will ya discount here in puyallup south hill wanted 230 for the ltb and summit was 139 so im kinda heading tords that but if i can get it local
thats a plus

When I said manufacture warranty I mean like tread separation, out of round, etc. Not road hazzard stuff. Recon250 should know if they will honor tire manufacture warranty even if the tire was not bought from his store. I've heard of les schawb doing this.

I bet you could mount a 31x11.5x15 ltb on a rim w/o any tools :) or at least I could.

Also.. summit will price match - so find the ltb cheaper anywhere else on the net(before shipping) and give summit a call to price match.

That's true, and it seems that John usually has a couple sets of new tires kicking around. I imagine he could order just about anything you would want as well.

O.K. I know they are not swampers, but today I purchased 31x10.50 Nexan MTs from Andy,s Radical Radials in Centralia for $580 including tax. He sells a lot of these tires, and has many happy customers on them. I know three other people who have baught these tires from Andy, all of them have said they would buy them again. Andy is a really nice guy with a small tire shop. His overhead is low, so he doesen't have to mark up his products as much as larger shops. He is able to order just about any tire you might want and has a ton of used tires for those with less money. I have been shoping for tires for about a month, Schwab's, Discount, and Tire factory all wanted $700-800 for their cheapest MTs. I know they are Tiawan tires, but the money saved will be used for my two kids sports and other activities.

I hope that this info helps in tire shopping.

Matt
