Went to wheeling today at cline ranch and broke the same damn thing i broke last time, i broke the ujoint straps on my rear yoke. I was talking to one of my buddies who is sitting on one tons and he suggested getting a new yoke that will use the 1310 ujoints on the driveshaft side (so i dont have to get a new tom woods shaft) and a 1350 size where it attaches to the yoke. He said tom woods should have this type of yoke. Has anyone had the same issue? what did yall do to fix it? I'd be rockin and rollin, if i could just keep my damn driveshaft from breaking off! Need sugestions... GO!!!

somethin else you can do is drill out the bolts and use a u-bolt. napa stocks 2 diff sizes a big one and a small one. you need the small one to fit the bolt hole width. you will also need to do a lil grindin on the back of the yoke to have a flat surface for the nut to rest flat against. i did his myself but right now i cant find the part number ill see if i can find it on napas website and post it.

yeah that is the other thing that he suggested to me is the u-bolt deal... i am so sick of throughing out this rear driveshaft that i'd like to do both upgrades

yeah i definately need to do my research, i have dont even know what ujoint size i have now lol... for some reason i always assumed it was 1310, but im really not even sure haha

its an 29 spline 8.25...

yeah there may be some axle wrap... i could see on the drive shaft where a little paint was worn off, indicating a axle wrap... cuz on the street my pinion angle is PERFECT

so right now i'm looking to open up the yoke a little bit where the possible axle wrap is making it hit, and then putting the u bolts in to replace the strap kit

ordered new poly leaf spring bushings cuz mine are shot, ordered a new yoke and ubolt kit from tom woods... still gonna run a little baby 1310 joint, and take it easy on the skinny so i dont get axle wrap... eventually i'll get the rubicon express 4.5" leaf springs and run those with my 1.5" teraflex shackle...

my current rear end set up is pretty horrible... its a teraflex 2.5" add-a-leaf, 1.5'' shackle, and 2" block... when i get the rubicon express leaf pack i can get rid of the add-a-leaf and block and hopefully that will help with my axle wrap issue

Ahhh.... now that you said you are running a block, my money is on that being about 98% of the problem. Nothing causes axle wrap in an XJ like a set of lift blocks. I would bet if you got rid of those block, and made you a bastard pack you would probably be fine from now on.

X2...the block is definitely a big part of the problem. Also, when you did your add-a-leaf, did you put new clamps on the spring packs? Having the clamps at least on the back side of the spring pack will keep the leaves together and help with the axle wrap.

Sure don't man..... If you were a paying member Jason at ROUGH COUNTRY would get you a set for cheap!!! I think he got me mine for like $240 shipped, but I can't rememebr. All I remember is they were dirt cheap. Cheaper than most places were selling 3.5" springs for.
