Can I keep it?

Body is in good shape. No rust, small dent behind drivers door and on the passenger door.

There has been work on the cooling system, owner states he changed the head gasket and there was signs of a hose burst with the rust dust on the engine. There was no sign of crud on the oil cap, receipt in glove box indicates 2.5K miles on oil and changed in January. The engine sounds good no ticks or knocks and no exhaust leaks.

A/C blows cold but heater blows luke warm.

Interior does not smell, the cloth seats are not ripped, the headliner is missing. The interior lamps don't work, the turn indicators on the dash stay illuminated. Stereo and wipers work.

It's a Peugot, but it does sound bad and didn't pop out of gear like my previous 5-spd. When taking it out of 3rd the shifter has a natural return towards second.

The tires are matched tread but only have about 25% left.

It was by Kelly's (playwithit) home and he was gracious enough to accompany me to check it out. The owner was asking $1695 I offered $1,500 and he countered with $1,600. I overpaid but the body, interior and A/C sold me.

So now back to a three Jeep family. 88XJ; 00XJ & 88MJ

Sounds nice... no, you have to give it to me.

You may have overpaid but think about it this way, by the time you put a couple tanks of gas in it and register/insure/inspect it, it will not really be much of a difference.

I have tried to Dave. I have bought tix in the past for the Raffle Jeeps at the 20th and 25th Anniversary.

So I am doing as Johnny Cash sang, "One piece at a time".

Heading for Geostash next week to try my luck.
