Thinking of Hood Vents - Lots of Pics

Yah after digging through a few threads of the guy who made that (lazarus) I found out it is perforated steel. I called the metal supply company that's local and they said for a 4'x10' sheet with 3/16" holes 5/16" centers stagggered would be $230. I saw that price and almost choked on my sundrop when all I need is 2 pieces about 2'x2'.

Find out who they sell it to & see if they have any scrap pieces. JIM.

I got a piece of scrap 4'x2' perforated steel for another project for $12. Look around for another steel place, or ask for scrap.

That being said, that looks fugly.

Yah I'm not a huge fan of the shape if I was to do it I might make it a giant XJ just for something different.

Here is another option for you: 1981 Honda Prelude vents.

Creative mounting points using JBWeld, a few scrap pieces of flat stock, and some 1/2" nuts I had laying around. Not the prettiest way to do it, but very stout. Besides, very few people will ever see that side of them anyway.

Total cost was less than $10.

Vents measure 10" long by 4" wide.

To each their own...Gino down here has something similar to that and it looks pretty awesome, IMO...

I saw somewhere on here where a guy cut the hood at the body line towards the ends of the hood. He then put a pizza slice of sheet metal in there to lift up the middle of the hood. It ended up looking really clean and acted as a cowl hood. If i were to modify a hood for anything but the lebaron vents, that'd be what i'd do.

Just my .02

Anyone know what these are out of?
