So I have a chance to buy this for a great price. I love them and just seeing what you all have to say.

Somehow the 'I buying a Mercedes' line isn't going to work with the wife.

What do you call a great price?

12.5k. My neighbor owns it, he is going through a nasty divorce. My wife is who told me to buy it. She green lot the idea before I could even ask. He is liquidating his toys. I already bought his boat.

One of the railroads my Dad worked for bought a bunch in the early 80's with all the toys. The POS's were always broken and waiting at least 2 weeks for parts per repair, per vehicle. Ended up getting rid of most of them and sticking the few remaining ones in areas where the track guys were ranchers or farmers that could fix anything with bailing wire and duct tape.

If the price was right I'd buy it. I've had one, it was an older model (a 404 D) German Army surplus. Most everything on mine was impossible to get to, tune up items etc. and parts were way expensive.

Any kind of do it yourself major or semi major repair and you had better have a crane. The major components are heavy. I had to take the whole cab off to do anything major on the motor.

On the plus side, they are really impressive. I've driven mine over acres of fallen timber after a tornado came through.

I got to drive a newer model at a local auto show, they had an agility course set up for it. I white knuckled the instructor and was smiling the whole time.

Unless someone put fast or superstar axles under it, it will be slow on the road. They are incredible machines, and VERY useful with the proper attachments. I've always been a fan of the mog.
