The weirdest thing that you damged on the trail

My dog jumped out of the Jeep on a trail in McCaslin, WI and broke a leg. Worst part was I didn't notice he had ejected for another 1/2 mile. 20 minutes of backtracking found him laying in a puddle of mud on the trail, wagging and panting, just happy to be. He is not a smart dog, but he is a good dog.

Not really weird, per se,but none the less......in my infancy days of 'wheeling I had a K-5 Blazer. I mounted the CB antenna on the outermost side part of the rear bumper. My first trip out,I got it snagged on a low tree branch or something and it snatched the coax clean out of the base. After trying to talk to everyone for the next 10-15 minutes and getting no response,I stopped to investigate and found the problem. The real problem was, however,I had already smoked the brand new Cobra CB trying to talk on it with no antenna

I did that in Tellico Y2K with my new K40 magnetic base & 4' whip... All day the first day I had to reset it on the MJ inner R fender. That night I glued the base down with silicone...broke the whip off on the 3rd day.

As for "how" I got the window to pop out? I wish my story was as sexy as how Crash did his, but alas mine involved crossing railroad tracks with a walk-behind mower in the back...the glass fell out 150 feet from where the mower got unloaded (and I wasn't the one who shut the hatch)

i had an s10 blazer last summer and was backing up out of a ravine back onto the road.. got into the trees and brush behind me and as i drove away i tried to pull a 5" tree out of the ground with my rear window spoiler.. it got wedged in between the wing and the body.... broke the glass, ripped 1 hinge out of the roof and wing was bent to hell.... i guess super dark tinted windows really do impair your vision....

5 inches of rain in a few hours will do that - you should upgrade to titanium arms for NACFest '04.

We still haven't heard from a few who's tents were next to the stream at Red Ridge. :D

Just my pride. Not from driving either. From slipping and falling into a river in front of large crowd. I did get a nice round of applause.

I did that too, except I had to break through the 4" layer of ice first, then land in the stream and come up entirely soaked after falling into a stream a mere 8" deep. Oh, did I mention it was 26* outside and I had no change of clothes within 250 miles(day trip to GWNF). Oh yeah, and I did all this trying to help some MORON in a TJ after he got stuck for the third time on the EXACT same line, where he knew he wasn't gonna clear(something about the front diff smacking into a solid rock face dead on causing a lack of forward progress didn't register with him  ).

Another vote for pride, but it wasn't quite trail damage. I was up at Gold Lakes over the Fourth of July last weekend with SactoXJ, ExtremeMopar, and JP. I was driving my dad's MJ, and after a nice day on the trail Saturday, I hadn't destroyed my rokers or broken anything. I had even been able to strap a YJ. Then, back at camp before we went to town for dinner and fireworks, I find out I destroyed both my brake rotors.

Ice.....

Does this count?

Last Friday I was running Tellico with Woody and the boys. We had gone up to Slickrock and on the way back we got caught behind a full size Chevy pickup that broke his left front knuckle. Broke the three bolts holding it on to the steering. to make a long story short....after trying welding it twice we finally decided to winch it off the trail so we could get by. Since I had the only winch, Woody hooked up to my rear and we snaked the winch line out to a tree and then to the truck and finally got it out of the way. This took about 4 hours from start to finish. It's now 10:30 PM. After driving past the Chevy I parked and walked back to help out. Since it was so dark and muddy I decided eventually to hop in a Bronco and ride back down to my XJ hoping to avoid the slipping and sliding. The driver promptly lost control and the Bronco rolls over on it's driver door. I end up with my feet up against the driver's door with my ass in his face. Caught my jeans on something and ripped out the rearend. There WAS a full moon out! Does that count as trail damage? Danno :D :D

1974, k5, broke the frame at the rear spring jumping it. while limping the 5 miles home. there was a gawd awful pow and the engine started to run rough. alternator lite came on the truck started to over heat. and the power steering went away. got home and opened the hood. the crank pulley wasn't turning. i broke the crankshaft.behind #1&2.
oh yeah, on the xj i broke(tore) the frame at c-crawl '03.
