Re: THe NAC Lots-O-RocktoberFest or you missed a great time Thread
Finally got around to stripping down the new 4.0 last night, going to be using most of the accessories from the one thats in the jeep but even though I just did a tune up less than 500 miles ago might get fresh plugs/wires/cap/rotor and all that just cuz. Paint on the drivers side of the block is chipping a decent amount so will probably wheel it and give it a coat or two before I drop it in.
Other that just been trying to chip away at the shit list, I hate not having any free time anymore. Haven't even unpacked the jeep from rocktoberfest yet and its still sitting halfway up my driveway facing away from the garage dead and blocking shit. Cant turn it around so pulling the whole drivetrain should get interesting. Hoping to have everything out by the weekend so I can start tackling the other crap I have to do while the drivetrains out. Really wished I'd be doing an LS by this point but if this thing burns half the amount of oil as the old 4.0 I guess I cant complain, 90k isn't too bad either.

Not my car it's my sisters. (She's currently sharing it with her boyfriend as she totaled his car) she should have it tomorow so I'll look at it then. Car did sit for a year but does have new tires.
And I'm to lazy to pull a motor myself. Alot nicer we hen there already pulled. I also gotta find a Gm bellhousing

Pulling a motor is easy, especially when you're not alone. Rip the cab mount bolts out, cut everything holding the cab to the frame, have the loader operator gank the cab off it, then unbolt the trans and motor mounts in comfort sitting on the frame rail, then cut some seatbelts out of the cab and use them + have the loader operator pluck the motor and drop it in your trailer. Out and done for 2-3 hours (working alone) and 300 bucks.
I've done this a few times now, they lift the cabs off for me for free because they got tired of me tipping them off the frame with a high lift :gee::looney:

went to look at an mj down the street from my house yesterday. Its a service station where its been parked for years. I walked in and asked the older mechanic if that truck was for sale and he said "absolutley not." (im thinking ok here we go another old timer who thinks hes got a gold encrusted comanche) I said ok thanks, and walked out. Well i guess he saw my xj parked outside because he came running up to my window as i was pulling out of the parking lot.
Tells me "I saw you had a nice cherokee, if you can give me a thousand cash for it ill sell it to you. but other than that its not for sale."
Its an 88 with 4.0 and aw4 bench seat column shift. Interior is mint. Needs rockers (which i have) doors (which i have) and the driver bed side is rotted. It runs drive and shifts perfect. need a couple week to come up with the funds.

Thanks. Needs a few minor things like a smaller steering wheel (original hits my knees bad), fix the horn, a headlight is out and a carb tune. I am gonna drive and drive and drive it.
Very pumped and thanks to Dundy for coming along!
