I know, there goes my JK idea . I will say that 3.6 has a pretty good amount of power and that new 8 spd actually shifts really well. The ride on those things is insane. I forgot how horrible 2500 trucks ride.

Yeah I think we might try for a used one with like 10-15k miles on it. Those seem to be in the low to mid $20k range.

I haven't read of any known issues with the 5spd auto in the 2011/2012s.

Anything we should stay away from?

I've heard of some issues with the quadra lift air suspension, but we wouldn't be looking at limited/overlands anyway.

Stay away from quadralift and try to get a model with low range. The 5 spd auto is the MB 5Gtronic thats been in almost every MB 1990 (including AMG V12s), and its the same auto in the 3.6 JKs. It is technically "sealed" (at least in MB applications) with lifetime fluid  but you should change it every 40k and add a tranny cooler the truck doesn't have one already.

Ok cool.

Any particular reason for getting one with a low range? All the base models just have the MP 2010 single speed case. Anything wrong with it?

Nope, its just cooler to have low for when you have to "borrow" it.

We put on Pirelli CINTURATO P7™ ALL SEASON PLUS and they have been great. Pretty much a go until the snow is at bumper level.

Those were the tires that I almost put on the Honda. But after shipping and everything on Tire Rack, or the local shops, I would have ended up paying more for those than for the Michelins.

I want to put an AX-15 in the wrangler this spring/summer. I've been wishing it was manual since I've practically been driving it every day since beginning of January, and the 3 speed that has puked out parts 4 years ago I'm sure would like a rest.

Ken, I may have some questions for you if you know anything about TJs
