THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

NAC Thanksgiving dinner at Colins?

YOU KNOW IT.

We also finally setup the smoker that our friends bought us as a wedding gift. Kate threw a whole chicken in there and smoked it for 4.5 hours. She used Pepsi instead of water and threw some applewood chips in. Came out awesome.

You should have

My father also gave me his old push-style leaf blower. Thing is like a goddamn hurricane.

I rid the whole yard and entire driveway (including along the street) in an hour. It was amazing.

Just need to mow the lawn to pick up the remaining stubborn leaves.

Mark, what length and condition?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Now I'm going to have to go back and check. Condition is good, has a little bit of light corrosion that had started where the external reservoir meets the body, we're in perfect working order when removed.

Went to replace the trackbar on my dad's blue Cherokee this weekend, good the inner hole wallowed out some. Thoughts on fixing it? Drill out stock trackbar bushing for bigger bolt, weld tab behind (pretty hard)? FIRI?

break the welds on the tab and remove it. IIRC i just have a standard nut on mine

Huh? The type of nut has nothing to do with the mounting hole, or the fact it is now oval

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

What tab are you guys talking about? That picture isn't the greatest, but it is the rear of the bracket on the axle. Barely enough room to get a wrench between the axle tube and the rear wall of that bracket to loosen the thing. No way (at least with TIG) to get a weld behind there, unless I drill some holes and do some rosette welds.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

it's a flag nut - it should just break off and slide out unless someone welded it

Cut off the bracket and start over then?
Larger bolt?
Do what you posted above?

Usually one side of a bracket I call a "tab". Call it whatever you want, but I know what you're talking about.

I haven't worked on a D30 in a long time, but I thought I remember there being a bit more room than that. I'm not sure why you'd bother to TIG it unless you don't have a MIG. I'd just try to do like I said and throw some boogers up there on a washer. Even if you only get the bottom half and sides of the washer I'd bet it would be fine.

I wouldn't go the plug weld route. It would be a bitch to grind them down smooth afterwards since the bushing has to fit in there. Drilling out a sleeve in a rubber bushing also blows, so not the best idea there either.

Worst case you're talking cutting off the inner/outer tabs and welding on a whole new bracket.
