THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

So I just sent a text to Bob.

If you don't have a plated vehicle, you need an NH OHV sticker to wheel at Swanzey.

That sucks.

If you get caught you get a ticket which is the same as the reg, just not thrilled about having to get one for only wheeling there once plays I'm a little short on cash. Also threw away my vin with the dash, oops

Still some gray area on the inspection thing but I have valid out of state plates so I a thinking that is good.
Cool, I'll be skipping this fall crawl then.
Just pay Bob/Liza and be done.

Yes in moab you were fine with out of state plates. That what I did. I just reg in NY and insured it. I didn't even bother with an inspection since ut can't in force nys laws.

Yeah, that was my thought on the out of state inspection thing too and would align with what I was told by the VT DMV.

the problem though at least according tot eh cop who wrote the ticket out was that not having a valid inspection meant that you did not have a valid registration

That's what I had heard from one of the groups that got ticketed at Swanzey.

Interesting as the registration is still valid as the inspection is not part of the registration process (at least in some states).

Seems like a case of depends on who it is.

Edit: Just texted someone 'in the know' and got: "inspection is enforceable only in the state it is required and registered in"

I'll try a couple of other people I know.

If that's the case Bill, then why the HELL are you not driving your XJ to work?!!

It isn't the inspection sticker that would be an issue (if it was)!

i did a quick google search and it seems like it is up to the cop who is writing the ticket. but from it reads if the vehicle is not allowed to drive on the roads in its registered state then they can hit you with a registration violation but really nothing more, they cannot hit you with safety and emissions violations unless it violates a federal thing. but like any traffic stop it is up to the cop writing the ticket

you guys bash LI but you could drive that XJ everyday and wouldn't have a problem. it would be a 100% registrable, insurable, and legal.

Well yes. A cop can wright you a ticket or even arrest you for what ever he or she wants. Then you would have to fight it in court.
