Badass Anthony.

I went down to Nicks today and we banged out the 3 link and steering. Hes aiming for Rocktoberfest.

These are 1" below ride height. Hes probably going to drop the axle side trackbar down one hole and then he has a bunch of welding to do.

At least getting it running should be the hard part for you with all the wiring and junk you had to do. fabbing up the suspension and axles should be downhill from there.

Yeah, I spent a decent part of today scratching my head at that but I don't think there are any other unknowns. I have some time next weekend to iron that out.

Shouldn't be too terrible here on out but I'm sure I'll make road blocks for myself.

Looks good, Chris. How far did you tear it down?

*almost* down to the bare block; the main bearings looked fine so I left the crank & mains in place. Everything else came out.

Fixed one stripped cam cap bolt with an M7 helicoil, timing all assembled, tensioner set, valve cover & plug well gaskets in place, cleaning up the fuel rail & injectors tonight and also painting all the other brackets & stuff.

Bringing all the intake manifold pieces & oil pan to work tomorrow to run through the parts washer.

Was awesome to get the entire suspension and steering mocked up. Thanks man. We only had to break two tacks to move the track bar bracket, everything else managed to fit the first time. Need to swap pitman arms, make some spring retainers, figure out spring length, bump stops, then burn it all home. Then assemble the axles

We can always go back and torch the rest of it out. Gotta make sure it falls apart on the first run.

What's wrong? Some wiring issues or something?

Did you happen to check the end play on the crank? Where is the thrust bearing on those?

I always laugh at how much time we all spend making everything pretty during installation, only to cover it in shit the first run out

Looking good dude.

No problem dude. It's easy to know where to fit things when you've done a few 3 links. There are only so many places you can fit things on an XJ.

I'll bet you end up with RE 3.5" coils. Those 4.5"s were definitely too much.

Colin, wiring issues are that I'm making a 2001 automatic think it's a 98 manual. Stupid stuff like injector connection style changed, intake air temp sensor moved, bypass nss, reverse lights, and the chassis harness I got needs to be repaired in a few spots.

Thrust bearings are on either side of the #3 main cap. Best I could tell it was on the tight side of normal (range is 0.0008" - 0.0087"); I had a few thousandths.

Re-checked all the valve lash and as I kinda figured, after cleaning & re-lapping everything it brought everything back into spec without having to adjust anything. I'll run with that for now.

And yes, I know...but that other voice in my head that says "are you really going to bolt that dirty part back onto a totally clean build" tends to scream a little louder.
