Girl at the auto parts store is telling me my j20 steering box requires auto transmission fluid to work.

But all credibility went out the window before when I asked for a steering pump beforehand and had placed 2 quarts of fluid on the counter. and she asked me if I needed a manual steering box.

A lot of Ferds use ATF as fluid. It's pretty much the same thing as PS fluid, but has more additives and junk

dumb. PS fluid is just ATF with conditioners in it right?

A lot of people use ATF in PS systems. Some setups, like PSC, say specifically not to use ATF and and only actaul PS fluid.
