I need a low speed viscous damper that can handle 5-7 feet of throw for work. My winningest idea is a pneumatic cylinder with an adjustable orifice, maybe cannibalizing a pneumatic actuator. I have checked McMaster, Grainger, MSC, and I have Motion Industries on the hunt. Any other ideas? Hoping to avoid having to make one from scratch.

Want a windows 7 PC? Order though the "Business" website. I know that from ordering laptops/desktops for my work. Especially with Dell, the Home site will have almost all windows 8 computers, the business site has a good selection of win7 as well.

make sure it is a thinkpad, they are two very distinct lines. Ideapads are "made for lenovo" by the lowest bidder. Thinkpads are "made by lenovo" in the same plants that used to make them for IBM. There's a significant difference in quality for not a big amount of purchase price difference.

The Asus is just a decent deal.

no, its not like that.
HP sucks, all the onboard junk on their laptop mobos fail.. all their consumer stuff is junk. acer is cheap junk, ideapads are outsourced cheap crap, dells are a tossup.
asus and real IBMs will be 9/10 fantastic performing machines (bc they make their own parts, in their own factories)
anything mac is pretty much failure proof bc even if you get a bad one theyll replace it for free anyway.

I take apart about 20 notebooks a week for repair.
I'd not recommend a consumer level dell or hp unit to anyone, ever.
It's too bad we just stripped and purged the dead and unclaimed shelf, because it was a pile of mostly dells and HP DV series, I'd take a picture.

b- obv broke something and it was your own fault and didnt combine this with option c
c- dont have boobs or enlisted the help of someone with boobs

applecare is about the only extended warranty contract I'd ever consider buying for those very reasons.

I'll give you the HPs sucks. The whole line of PCs, but their ProCurve series of switches is pretty nice.
Dell - Homeowner line, sucks. Dell - Business Line - holds up well and warranty is easy. A 2 minute call to someone in the USA gets whatever part next-day'd.
IBM - I agree with you.
ASUS & Acer laptops - suck. Cheap parts, bad service.
ASUS motherboards, pretty decent.
Apple - not failure free, they have the same issues as everyone else. Warranty work is a hassle and requires shipping units or replacing 3/4 the darn thing.
Truth be told I've had the pleasure of working with almost all the major brands warranties. Epson and Dell have the best service and turn around times, IMO. Apple has a decent turn around time but the process to get said warranty claim is a pain

HP needs to stop making computers, period. and just continue with business and pro class stuff bc they actually do that well.
i have never once had to deal with asus CS bc i've never seen a bad asus anything. everyone i come into contact with gets pointed to asus if they want to buy a computer and dont want a mac.
theres no hassle with a consumer and apple... you simply walk into an apple store.

That may be convenient in the city, but surely not when the closest one is hours away! Way easier to make a 2 minute phone call and have the parts on the doorstep the following day.
