I got head today
pulled a TUPY 0331 head out of an '04 WJ for 90XJay, took 27 minutes due to a few liberties taken with my 8lb hand sledge and a box cutter

ken how much did that head run you at the jy? how much is going to be after you machine it and flux it? (if you are) I thought that there was something with the WJ heads that made them no bueno with the xj like the AC mount or something (could be wrong jeep forum and memory from 2 years ago are not the best sources)

$45 including core. I hadn't heard about the AC mount, hopefully it isn't an issue. Lemme go compare it to the 0630 I have in the kitchen actually...
It's a TUPY casting, and I've never heard of one cracking without severe abuse. No sign of a coolant leaking issue either, so I figured just clean it up, check for flatness, and toss it on.
I know WJ blocks are different from XJ, and won't bolt in, but I hadn't heard that about the heads. I'll have to research it, hopefully I didn't steer Jay wrong. If I did, I'll toss it in CL for 50 bucks instead.

I *think* it'll be fine.
The only difference I noted was a tapped hole in the front passenger corner on the WJ head for the idler pulley. XJs don't use it.
