THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Straight bro style, thinking something like the Fab Four elite bumper but with no foot steps on the corners.
I kinda like to foot steps on the corners. I like the bumper but their logo kills it. Replace the logo with some sunk in reverse lights it'd be much better.

Build you, Adam and me one please.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sup dudes. I'm in the middle of Area BFE right now, everyone else is asleep and I'm drinking alone like Chris does.

Flew into Charlotte NC Wednesday morning to change planes. There was a couple hour delay, made it to Colorado about 1 pm mountain time. Worked on fixing a YJ that was hacked together by a shop from pretty much that moment on until late last night. Left for moab at midnight, got here around 8:00 this morning. The town is really not that swamped for easter jeep. I was surprised. Traffic isn't heavy, there aren't lines out of every restaurant like I expected. Anyway, it seems every time we move this YJ we find another thing hacked about it. Here is a short list:

Rebar to hold body panels on
Steering shaft welded to a Psc steering box
Link bushings missing sleeves (flopping around)
The 205 is clocked way too high for a lp front 60. I had to grind the crap out of the yokes for it to even spin.
All but one of the drivers side manifold bolt holes were stripped (they used 5/16" bolts, not 8mm)
The drivers side manifold dumps into the firewall AND upper link mount. That took some creative welding to clear...
Motor mounts weren't bolted down, bell housing bolts were loose
And there's probably more.
Water pump was also junk.

After taking care of all those issues the car seems to he working pretty good. Ran the dirt riot course a couple times and it held up fine, no new issues.

Here's to hoping I'm done wrenching for the rest of the weekend.

Sounds sweet other than the drinking alone part!

I should have used more rebar on mine.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

did some painting today, way to much time preppy for it to come out shitty, ****ing wind can go suck it

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My schedule, especially weekends, it going to be busy as **** coming up. Decided rather than work on the Jeep all day while it was nice out, I'd do a bunch of spring cleaning/yardwork while I have the chance and get back on Jeep stuff when it's dark/shitty out.

So...5 bags of stone, 20 bags of mulch, cleaned out & re-edged about 200 sq. ft. of beds...not a bad afternoon of work. Also got the parts to rebuild my mower deck and started looking at sheds. 10' x 8' seems like I'll fill it up too fast, but I've got a really good spot for one that size. Ironic how I have a big garage and can only think about how much stuff I want to move *out* of it...

Might go look at a benchtop mill & 9" lathe tonight as well.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Tooled around a cloverleaf interchange last night in the jeep on its new tires, I can hold 45-50mph through it and the G meter on my phone says 0.9G.

Look out, its a racecar now.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was working on the tedious stuff to get the xj's drive train working again, like sealing aw4's tranny tunnel to the ax15 shifter boot and swapping the pedals today. Gotta finish the pedals, do the wiring harness, and it will run. Of course, I won't have exhaust or brakes, but it will run.

I pulled the driver seat while I was messing around with the center console area... I've never owned a dirtier vehicle. Shop vac to the rescue.

lift? tires? wheelin???

4.0/ax-15/231, 33's, 4.10's, wj'd D30, 8.8, locked fr & r. Still need tires/wheels. Know of any that need a new home?

To answer your question, no. No wheeling. Only mall crawling.

I don't have a specific date I'm trying to get it done by. I'd like to get it proofed out by NACFest but I'm working on it at my leisure and not in a rush, but it's going. Maybe once it's running I'll have more motivation, but right now it's not unlike any other hunk of shit I've stared at for the last 4 years except this one is already going back together.

45 deGees !!!!!
The funny part is, in a 1G turn, the acceleration vector you feel is at exactly 45 degrees

So probably more like 40-42 DEGREEEEEEEEES if I had to hazard a guess.

sines! cosines! rhombus?

Graph jokes. We are so cool.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bitchin Anthony. You going to bring it to nacfest?

I'd like to. We'll see what condition it's in at that point. If it runs reliably and all the functional stuff is there, I probably will. I would rather go and have a good time without my XJ than go and spend hundreds of dollars trying to limp a hunk of shit that hasn't been tested there and back.

I have most of the parts, it's just a matter of getting out there on the week nights. Weekends only won't cut it if I want to make NACfest.

technically that one would be tanget :lecture:
