I had a guy drop in unexpectedly who heard about my/our iPad initiative.
Tells me he repairs iDevice screens for cheap and wants to help.
Sure, I'll chat with you maybe we can use your services next year. Then proceeds to grab my iPad air, tell me it is a 4, when I confirm for him it is a 4 he goes "oh, sorry, first time handling an air". Been out for months pals, Strike 1. Then tells me $295.95 + 3 hours labor @ $55/hr to fix a screen. That comes out to $19 less than it would cost us to buy a brand new unit. Yeah, strike 2.
So I ask him about a iMac we have that got knocked off a desk. I give him the model number to which he tells me he can't do anything with. Huh? Anyone that has worked on iAnything would know that Apple changes the model number for almost every small revision and it gives you of the specs (at least the screen). If I give him ME086LL/A or MD093LL/A he should be able to determine (just like anyone else with google) everything pretty similar besides the graphics card changes and cpu chipset. Strike 3.

You should just replace the screens your self. I'm sure there are YouTube video on it. My cousin does it and says its not hard.

They're glued in and kinda a pain. At the above prices I would, but if I could find someone local that does it for parts + reasonable labor I'd be all over it not to have me or my techs wasting time doing it.

That one word explains it all, even and Otter Box or Griffin Survivor still isn't perfect. It's going to happen and you can't get upset about it, just need a good way to repair them.
