Pulling my bike out today. A bit late, for me.

I am going to try and make my stupid 231 last as long as possible. Other transfer cases are to much for me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just learned that I can make noises close enough to squirrel cussing to get them REALLY PISSED

This is gonna come in handy when I have to evict more squirrels from the porch roof and have a pellet gun in my hand :eyes: already found out that the ****ers come back if you don't blast em, and don't want them chewing into the new roof...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Beautiful weekend out at Rausch for the first Line Mtn race. Definitely some impressive carnage this time around but there were 125ish racers and everyone left happy.

Tim from LII got first overall, Tim Smoluk / TR Motorsports got second overall at a minute twenty behind, Lucas Murphy got fastest lap by a pretty good margin and somewhere around 12th overall (he had a flat and some fan wiring issues). All that made for an easy day in the pits for me :) Had enough daylight left to do some shock tuning stuff later on...fun times as always.

Now I'm spending 5 hours this afternoon at a rehearsal studio for a prog rock project I've been asked to play for...we'll see how that goes. Finally getting used to my new 7-string...

Sounds like a good time! How long have you been playing guitar? I've been playing for about 10 years now but never have gone into 7 string territory. A whole nother string to worry about lol

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dave, you sold me this NP231 w/SYE for the right price. I'm not blaming you for this at all, and I'm quite happy with the price I got, but whoever put this thing together was a chimpanzee of a mechanic. :gee:

They managed to break a chunk off the fluid pump right where the pickup tube goes in, so rather than use an O-ring they gobbed RTV everywhere.

The rear output yoke nut was barely past hand tight.

The extension housing bolts were cranked down to a billiondy foot pounds and one was rounded. I had to use a chisel to spin it free.

The main housing bolts were alternately hand-tight and tightened to a billiondy foot pounds.

They also seem to have interesting ideas on how to apply RTV, both in quantity and application accuracy.

At this point I think I'm just gonna tear the SYE out of it (already did, actually) and put it in the MJ at some point, unless the XJ needs it first. The rest of the case is going in the spare parts pile, if you ever need anything, it's free.

PS: I had no idea that any NP231J was synchronized, thought that was NP241s only. There's a giant brass synchro in this thing on the mode hub.

There is still a trashboat (literally) in the woods by my house with Billy's name all over it.

It even comes with a free TJ d35.
