THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Maybe less triple digit speeds Ken?
It actually vibrates the most at 55 or so, but it usually comes loose after 30-40 minutes at ~70-80mph. AKA speed of traffic on i90.

You're using the wrong kind of nut for that application if it's "vibrating loose"...

Tell that to Crown :dunno:

I'm using the nut they included, with more torque on it than they told me to use.

I'm gonna take it off tonight, rip the rubber star washer thing out, blast it with RTV, and crank it back down. I've installed 3-4 of them for other people using that method and none of them have come loose, this is the first time I've seen a rubber washer included.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So what do we think about general grabbers? I have always loved them but more for looks and I realized I've never seen them run. And don't k ow how they perform. That set of 5 33s in the FS thread for 800 is tempting me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You're not supposed to reuse those?

I reuse everything, pinion nut, seals, bearings, balljoints, gear oil, you name it. Works great for me, I don't even have to take the axle apart either. Don't even know what you guys are talking about. I don't even know anything about jeeps. I don't even know what this forum is about. I can't remember who you people are. What the **** is an axle?

Knew a guy that had them on his 1500 dodge.. Said they were awesome on the beach and dry pavement.. That's about it. I bet they're ice skates in winter.

Think they are worse than km2s. They don't seem to have a as much space between the lugs. But idk if its enough to matter for snow.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yea. I just read the tire rack survey results and the do well I'd every except deep snow and ice. They rate best In Dry traction. Also 800 is not as good of a price as I thought its 750 for 4 before shipping. So 850 after.

What about kevlars or mtz's?

Nope... they are all-metal lock nuts, one time use. And they're like $1 on rockauto so no excuses :nono:

I buy an extra when setting up gears and reuse it the whole time I am working on it, but the last time it goes back together after the pinion seal goes in, it gets a brand new nut.

Didn't Travis (or someone else on here?) nearly ruin a set of gears trying to reuse the old nut and it was a little gunked up and cross threaded on the pinion? Not worth that kind of risk, IMO.

not me. When we geared my front 44 the brand new nut had the threads strip right out of it, but that was a completely fluke (and pretty awesome/impressive) occurrence...
