THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sometimes I wonder if you are really kidding.

:moon:

Bill I really hope that you have learned by now that I am a very serious person, and if I were to joke, it certainly wouldn't be about a passionate kiss with Dougue Fresh.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I talked for a while today with one of my customers I'm gonna be visiting out in Cali. I've been dealing with this place for years, it was actually one of the first "real" engineering tasks I did a long time ago, and they've been growing at a phenomenal rate over the last year, which has put stress on both our ability to supply them and their ability to keep with with their own orders. It's a good situation to be in but sucks for the short term.

Anyway...Cali has had a severe lack of snow this year, which sucks because I'm looking to go skiing out that way before doing these customer visits. I mention that as small talk during the call today and it turns out not only does this guy have a season pass at the ski place I was looking at going to again (Heavenly at Tahoe), but he has a Jeep, has wheeled the Rubicon, knows all about KOH, and has a friend building a rig for the modified class who is racing in the EMC this year.

Small freakin world  guess I'll have to go through with my full plan of goin to KOH again. Which is flying out Wednesday night, renting a small SUV, picking up a Walmart sleeping bag on the way and camping out on the lakebed through Friday night, driving up to Tahoe ~450 miles Saturday, skiing Sunday/Monday, driving to Sacramento Tuesday morning, meeting up with our regional sales guy and doing customer visits all over northern Cali that afternoon through Thursday, and flying home Friday.

Worked through some of the logistics tonight and it doesn't look too bad. Was hoping to ski at Mammoth instead of Tahoe this year but holy shit that place is expensive. :( The customer I was talking to today told me to let him know if I was gonna end up at Heavenly and he might come up for that Sunday. Business networking and all....

Meanwhile I was talking on and off all day with a guy at Tesla Motors, also out in Cali, troubleshooting a problem with one of our gearboxes on some of their CNC equipment. This in between quoting a retrofit for the Kellogg's plant in KY that packages Pop Tarts.

My life is interesting at times...

Sounds like a fun time.

First I guess. Gotta get the trailer registered tomorrow after a VIN verification and then get the MJ up here on Sunday.

Also buying my friend's plow setup. Picking up brackets for my truck on Sunday from some dude in Danvers.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Registering the truck tomorrow, gonna try and get an inspection too. Have a clunk coming from the rear I gotta check out. Joints are brand new spicers.

10.25 pinion problems!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Should I cage the Nova? Just like a simple main hoop and some kickers? Maybe a small halo and some a-pillars behind the dash, then I could tie the front subframe into the A's?

No, but you are to the point that good weld-in frame connectors are necessary. Not sure if you have done this yet, but after I did this on the Camaro, it really stiffened up the whole thing nicely. 450HP and tires that commonly fit on a non-tubbed Nova = tire spin... even with drag radials. I remember back when I was racing, that if you don't do major work on the rear quarters/suspension, a 9-10" tire is about the max that fits. Cage becomes necessary after you tub it and mount up the drag slicks. When you start trying to make the tires stick to the road is when things REALLY start twisting and deforming.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

We need a showdown between Ross' Nova vs. Andy's Camaro.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was planning on subframe connectors regardless, stock wheel wells and SS rims with plain jane radial car tires. It was mono leafs out back, at a minimum its getting new multi leafs and like caltracs or some sort of traction bar. I'm aiming for 450ish HP on motor, might add a little spray or forced induction. Its going for more sleeper pro touring, stock exterior/interior looks with under the hood being the only give away. I'll probably buy a custom front subframe too with coil covers/ rack and pinion stuff. I gotta price out rear suspension to decide if maybe I should just 4 link the rear.
