THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

To rebuild the double cardan assembly, I get:

-CV boot
-centering ball rebuild kit (make sure you get the right one...usually the ball bearing itself is the same, but the seals are different)
-3 non-greasable spicer u-joints

I pack the shit out of the centering ball with grease if it's non-greasable.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i see options as
- just the ball bearing with a new race and seal, where i have to pry the old ball out and cut out the old race - dunno if i feel like doing that, plus my dremel's collets are stripped so i can't use that to cut the race out
- the entire cv yoke with the bearing and whatnot already installed.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Taking the old bearing out is pretty easy.

I just used a chisel/screwdriver and hammer to get out the original one when I did my front driveshaft in my Dodge at 190k miles.

If you rotate the ball 90*, you can stick a screwdriver straight through it and pry down against something and it usually takes the race out with it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

is the stock cv yoke/ball assembly the greasable or non-greasable type? I see the rebuild kit seals are different depending on the type. I'd assume non-greasable since i've never greased mine :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know I'll never grease the joints

I just noticed a sticker under the hood of my Dodge the other day that says to grease to double-cardan on the front shaft at every oil change interval.

Here I am 230k miles into ownership and I'm just seeing this. :helpme: Went under the truck and it felt fine and the 4wd works with no issues so I'm not too worried about it.

Jeff rocks, guess I'm putting new leaf springs in the cherokee tonight most likely, maybe it won't look like a dog taking a shit anymore

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I do, but it's still in the jeep. 1.5 quarts of fluid made it act normal again :dunce: for some odd reason auto trannies don't like running with nowhere near enough fluid in the pan.

I only need flywheel bolts, flexplate bolts, two driveshafts, metal to make the crossmember, and metal to make the crossmember to trans bushing adapter plate at this point. Not sure when it'll get done, but it's going to happen, goddammit. Tired of an auto.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken I got that cross member to trans adapter plate
