THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

but what if there's a guitar to be played or a cool picture that has to be taken?!

I bet he'll put a huge lense on the camera and get an amp for the guitar and play with his warm booty.

4.0 to ax 15 dust cover. Who has one that they can part with? I haven't seen mine since I moved. I have a feeling it got scrapped. Ken?

I think I have a spare, I took a tracing off yours when I bought your clutch disc and durango box but you weren't willing to part with it. I'll have to look around.

If not me, I'm sure Billy has about half a dozen sitting around.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I figured it would be you or billy. Thanks. If you find one let me know. I could grab it tomorrow. And let me know what you want for it. Man I bet if I had given it to you you'd still have it. I got rid of an obscene amount of stuff when I moved last summer

It'd be in my MJ :laugh3:

If I find one spare call it $5, a (1) beer, or just sign up for UJ and come wheel and I'll call it even. I stash so many damn parts around here and most of them are part of build plans I've either abandoned or changed.

Thanks  Yeah I'll be reupping UJ. I never did let my membership slide, even if I haven't done anything the last few years.

When do you think you'd be able to know by? You still have my #? Shoot me a text.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I found one on the back porch, it's going in my XJ. If I find one in storage that I think is there, it's got your name on it. Probably checking there tomorrow.

You converting the 01 to 5 speed I guess?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yep. Doing that while I swap the motor. Motor is from my 98 and I just finished going through it with a little help from Adam (I had a feeling I did the RMS wrong- I did.) and it looks mint inside. Had my old flywheel surfaced at a local machine shop a little while ago. We don't have a Blanchard grinder at work anymore :( I'm hoping to stab the drive line back into the chassis fri/sat but I just realized I don't have that stupid shield.

I've been doing some research about the PCM swap. I think I might have to swap it unless you know of a good way to fool the PCM into thinking it's talking to the TCM.

Side note: Don't let your oil tank run dry. You end up with an unhappy significant other. Usually "E" means 10-20 gallons left. 'parently not. Oh well, back up and running after a brief panic this morning. All the practice I had in my old garage paid off, I guess.

Oh, you're doing an old head and such at the same time?

Possibly have to get the ECU flashed to show your VIN/mileage/year of manufacture, but just swap the 98 wiring and computer in as well. IIRC you can swap just the engine bay harness and such... and presto, the stupid precat and cylinder head issues aren't yours anymore.

Talk to that chris guy I mentioned a while ago, he can flash whatever tune you want to an ECU, 01 manual, 98 manual, whatever. I have a 98 4.0 manual tuned ECU on my desk but it's going in my 98 at this point.

Yeah, just my whole 98 engine. I haven't decided what to do as far as PCM/wiring but now that you mention that, I think that's going to be the plan. He quoted me $250 I think... I have found compatible PCMs on ebay for $150 and I could pull a harness at a JY, or pull the PCM too. I had thought about the stupid precat issue but hadn't discovered a workaround yet.

I even scrapped my old PCM; hindsight is 20/20 :banghead: Probably have to try to find one at a JY. I'd have to run a 98 ignition system, correct? (distributor + wires) not the weird coil ignition workaround that Adam worked out I think.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I'm going to go home tomorrow and grab a Jeep for the snowstorm Thurs/Fri.

Do I grab my new cherokee that has bad steering and hopefully only needs the rear brakes adjusted? Or do I replace the tensioner on my dad's TJ and hope that was the only reason why the alternator wasn't working and the engine sounded like it was going to explode last time I started it?

98 ecu, ignition system, engine wiring harness, and maybe dash harness and instrument panel but I doubt it, worstcase I have both those FSMs and we can figure out what repinning needs to happen at the bulkhead connector.

Too bad about your old ECU, mantrans ones are worth good money.

I am not sure if the 98 ECU or the vin would redflag you at inspection so that needs more research, but my bet is set the vin and mileage right and you are golden.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

VIN's were not required to be 'burned' into ECM/PCM's until 2002, that shouldn't give you any trouble.
