THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have absolutely no idea.

I was offered a free mill that just needed a thing fixed in the head on Wednesday. Had to be picked up by Friday. Friday I am busy so Thursday it was. I haven't had time to think the rest out really but I have some ideas, this is going to involve a measuring tape and a lot of thinking.

Supposedly the gears are stripped in the head but as far as I can tell it is a cvt belt style one. So I think it needs a new key for a pulley, a new belt, or something of that nature.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sweet! Those variable speed series I heads can be costly to rebuild depending on what it needs, hopefully you luck out again there.
Plans for phase converter?

Man, you got some luck. Any pictures? Condition? HP? Want to sell it? ;)

Seriously though I've been looking for a good step belt unit that I can put an EVS on 'cause the variable speed ones are always expensive. I just can't find on locally that is in decent shape for a decent price (yet). Plus I've got bills to pay so it probably should wait a bit anyway. :(

If back gear is the same as a pulley type they strip out a lot. People put it in/out of back gear and turn the motor on and let it find it's way. Also they're easy to take a part. All of it's parts are still heavy as shit but it strips down to just the base pretty quickly which is still a few hundred but I've heard of them getting carried by hand by several dudes is possible. Worst case buy a new a head.

Good to know. Supposedly this one is 3000 pounds... I have no way of weighing it and Ross says it's probably more like 2-2500.

Yeah, I knew I had to jump on it when I heard about it. I think I have 80 bucks into it so far including the trailer, more ratchet straps I had to buy, and gas to get there.

Got 15mpg towing it. Auto/4.0/3.55s/25" tires kept me loafing along in overdrive without any gear hunting, actually.

edit: xbobj did you hear me lay on my airhorn as I went by your work at 8AM?

Bill, you can come buy my mill :D

$50 delivered? :D

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't there some significant slope/play in the ways and the belt in bad shape? R8 or morse collets?

Ya, more like 2400 is the number I hear on forums. What kind of trailer did you rent to tow it?

Pinion nut backed off on my D80. Gears look ok but I don't have much faith.

Gonna bearing slap it and hope for the best.

You drove past me this morning on central st. I was the dude in the black ranger with the exhaust bouncing around because some retards broke it last night. You probably didn't notice me since you were preoccupied thinking about dicks or something.

You need better friends.

A uhaul, the 5x8 one. I thought they were like 1500-2000, trailer was only rated for 1900, wish I'd known that before renting.

It actually pulled pretty nicely. I think most of the horrific grinding noises were my jeep.

You are not having very good luck with that rearend.
